This is my 2nd pregnancy but my first ended in a miscarriage very early on so I've never done this before and I need some advice/information from some of you ladies who are more experienced with this.

I've been having an aching/pain in the very middle of my, basically, pubic bone combined with thigh pain and an achiness/pain in my hips. My Prenatal yoga teacher says it sounds like SPD and gave me some tips to cope with this. This part does feel muscular and I am not so concerned about it. I am not sure if any of the following has anything to do with this pain and it is just presenting itself in a different way or not...

BUT

I've also been having, off and on and not consistent at all, pain/cramping... a feeling that is really hard to describe. It can be painful enough that I have to stop and breathe through it and it usually goes away within a few minutes at most. It tends to come in different parts of my abdomen/pelvis... sometimes more up top, other times really down low. I can't quite figure out if it comes with a "tightening" or not... sometimes I do notice that I feel really tight and uncomfortable before it starts. I've also been getting a random aching in my vagina that may or may not come with any of the pain I described above as well as period like aching down there... not cramping so much as aching.

I have talked to my OB/GYN about it and they seem to think it is normal stretching/pressure/etc and/or gas. I am not convinced. I also don't feel like I am describing it well.

Gas has never felt like this but, then again, I have never been 30 weeks pregnant before . I do have a history of IBS and stomach issues so it definitely could be.... I just keep thinking maybe it is BH or actual contractions?

Last night I had a stint of it that was so bad, and longer than usual, that I almost called my doctor but figured if I could get some sleep and it settled down I wouldn't... I did manage to fall asleep eventually and it has settled down.

Should I mention it again at my next appointment, on the 31st, should I call when they are open again tomorrow, or is this just normal being this far along stuff? When I do go in for my next appointment are there things they need to check to make sure it isn't a sign of pre-term labor?

Any advice, guidance, etc would be great! I am just so confused!

Thanks for reading and also a Very Merry Christmas to you!!!

Not sure what you are describing but when I started getting BH the best I could describe it was that in a part or all of my uterus it would sometime feel like suddenly baby had got really heavy. It is achy sort of but not always period like or "pain" per se. Feels like nothing else. Sometimes when walking I have to stop not from pain but because suddenly it is just hard to walk while I am having this.

I have SPD too and that is different to the BH. Now at 34 weeks too sometime he'll move into a certain position and just feels like whole uterus is tight for ages so like a BH but not with the intensity and it lasts longer like hours and just feels like bump is stretching.

Definitely good to talk to midwife but does any if that sound familiar.

Thanks for responding. I can definitely relate to the tightness... and the sensation like the baby is suddenly heavier... I will definitely talk to them the next time I go in for an appointment.

If you feel uncomfortable the best thing to do is call and check in with your doctor. It's always better to be safe than sorry!

I have been having this same issue, and got the SAME response from my Dr. Painful pressure/tightening. . tender to the touch . . .

Of course, that pretty much just felt like he was brushing my concerns aside. I couldn't figure it out until about 3 weeks ago.

For me the answer was this: My baby is bracing and pushing himself outwards in specific spots. I finally figured it out when it happened in our car after a breakfast in a restaurant. I felt this intense pressure and pain like normal, except I was literally having to breathe through it like in our birthing class, it had become so painful! My husband pulled the car over, and gently felt my abdomen, he said it almost felt like the baby was balled up in there! So he helped me lean my seat back, and gently massaged my belly for a few minutes. . . then I FELT my son move out of that position. The weirdest feeling ever! He had to have been stretching ENTIRELY out . It was simultaneous pelvic pain relief and rib/upper abdomen relief! I felt him turn and settle down.

This is what I've been doing every time it's happened since. It may not be what's going on with you two, but it's worth a try! :hugs:Good luck!
