Hi, I am new to this site and just wanted some support or to know of any similar stories…

I went for a routine scan last week at what I calculate to be 8 weeks (according to first day of LMP - 4th august) I was told baby had no heartbeat and measured 7 weeks 4 days. I have been so upset by this but am also really confused as I know the exact date that I had unprotected sex which was 18th august so baby should not have measured as big as that. I feel that baby should have only just been 6 weeks? They wanted me to see a doctor there and then and discuss medication for the missed miscarriage but I refused and have asked for another scan this week. Im so scared to go back for another scan to be told the same but I also know that I am 100% right on my dates. I did a clear blue pregnancy test on 8th sept which said 2-3 weeks - this also takes me back to conception around 18th august. Could the baby have been too small for a heartbeat? But why was it measuring bigger? Could measurements be wrong? I have not had any pains or bleeding whatsoever and still have pregnancy symptoms of slight sickness (didn't have much sickness anyway) and very sore breasts. So confused and don't know if I'm coming or going :-(

Any similar stories? Am I right to not give up hope just yet?
Many thanks

The dates you give match up to today (Oct 3 ) being 8 weeks 4 days pregnant. How pregnant you are is based of LMP, not conception, so from 4 August.

The clearblue test is also time since conception, which is 2 weeks less than how pregnant you would be.

You are definitely correct to wait a week between scans, as sometimes miracles happen. However, be prepared for the worst, and hope for the best.

Sorry you find yourself in this situation xx

Thanks for your reply. The dates match up now as it is now a week on... My scan was last week. Sorry if that wasn't clear. So what I was trying to say was that based on my LMP (4th August) if fetal measurements were correct at 7.4 weeks then I would have had to conceive whilst on my period... Which I know can't and didn't happen. Am I making any sense? I have an appointment tomorrow so I guess I will know one way or another. Its the not knowing that is driving me insane :-(
Thanks again

I just put your LMP date into a pregnancy calculator and it says 8w5d.

Conception occurs when you are 2 weeks pregnant, not 0 weeks pregnant.

Conception occurs when you are 2 weeks pregnant, not 0 weeks pregnant.

But you are not 'actually' 2 weeks pregnant… you can't be if you haven't conceived! Which is why the dates get re adjusted at the 12 weeks scan

Did you get rescanned?
When they say pregnant based off LMP it includes the week of and after your period. Going off of conception eliminates those 2 weeks and isnt accurate because you have to figure in implantation which can take several days. Ultrasound can be a week off so that can also change what they see. I hope you are just earlier than estimated :flower:

How are you doing? Did you have your follow up appointment? :hugs:
