Hi Ladies,

It has been 3 weeks since my natural miscarriage at 7w 1day and still no AF.

I went to the doc on Monday and they called Tuesday saying my hcg levels are less an 2 now. I do not feel aunt flow coming at all like I normally would although I do feel twinges like when I was pregnant.

I feel so hurt because I keep seeing friends and family members announce their 1st or 2nd pregnancy and I am stuck with nothing. My partner is confusing me more than ever with one minute he wants a baby girl to the next we should wait 3 years!!! Seriously?!?!??!:nope::growlmad::cry::cry:

My doc said I could start trying after 3 cycles but I feel like it will be a lifetime since I haven't even gotten the first.

Please give me some insight as to when my body will be back to normal and when I should think about trying to conceive.

I'm so sorry for your loss :hugs: Usually the first AF will be 4-6 weeks from when the MC completed - this is when your HCG starts to come down properly. I think when your HCG gets down to 5 or below, that is effectively when a new cycle will start so you will O approx 2 weeks after that (based on a 28 day cycle, longer if you have a long cycle).

Hope this helps.

Just to add, why has doc said for you to wait 3 months? Did they give a reason?

Usually there is no medical need to wait that long, and it would be more to give you time to heal emotionally. Many docs will recommend waiting until after first AF but that is so that if you conceive first try the pregnancy can be accurately dated from AF.

Good luck TTC hun :flower:

~Everything...I have a 26 day cycle so hopefully since my levels now will get AF to come on and thank you! My doc didn't say why I had to wait. I had a natural miscarriage..all that pain women spoke about during their miscarriages I didn't have at all. I passed the sac and saw the lil alien baby and everything. My doc said to wait 3months bc I'd most likely miscarry again bc she had seen it in so many cases. I have read of several women who conceive immediately after mc and were fine but I would so hate to go thru this again.

I am terribly sorry about your loss. :(

I just recently had an early miscarriage (only 4.5 weeks) and it took me about 7 weeks to get my period back. I was tracking ovulation during that time, and I seem to have ovulated right at 5 weeks after my miscarriage. I wasn't expecting my cycle to be thrown so out of whack since it was so early, but this experience taught to to understand now more than ever that we ar all different. You just never know how your body will react. I think that if your partner is on board, you should be okay to try to conceive again as soon as you o ulate. But I'm not a doctor and I don't have all your medical information available, so I can't say for sure.

I do hope that you can get on the same page as your partner and that you get your rainbow baby sooner rather than later. :hugs:

Hi Loved, I had an ectopic in January then conceived again in April so the magic 3 months later but unfortunately that still ended in MMC. I turned 40 in May though so perhaps my age had more to do with it. No previous MCs though and had children at 35 and 37 so who knows

My 12 week scan was at 11+4 but baby passed at 8+5. I had pessaries to bring it on and I had 3 hours of proper contractions and it was far too similar to my 2 previous live births for my liking! There's no 'easy' way to miscarry though, the emotional pain far outweighs the physical.

I do understand what your doc has said - up to 20% of known pregnancies end in MC so there is always the chance it will happen again, and if you try straight away 2 MCs close together is tough. There is no medical proof that MC is more likely if you conceive within 2 months of a previous MC. As long as you were/are taking folic acid I would say go for it when you feel you are emotionally ready - that could take more than 3 months, everyone is different.

:hugs:Sorry for your loss Love. I hope AF shows for you soon. It took 8 weeks of not getting AF after my second loss and then I took medicine to induce AF. I am sorry you are going through this. I have to say that after our first loss in March our Dr. said be needed to wait 2-3 cycles before TTC, I read about all these women who had great luck getting pregnant right after their MC. We decided to try right after our loss before AF and unfortunately we did get pregnant but MC again. Not to say I can't happen but it didn't end well for us. I know how hard it is to see pregnant women everywhere, I cry all the time. I would say it is normal for it to take anywhere from 4-5 weeks for AF and possibly 6-8 weeks sometimes. If AF doesn't show by 8 weeks I would give your Dr. a call. We decided to count the 8 weeks as a cycle and this AF as a cycle. We TTC this cycle. But, I would say it is probably best to try to get one period if you can. Good Luck! I hope it all works out for you soon.

So sorry for your loss. Its such a hard time going through this. I think I will wait the 3months so I can heal emotionally as much as I can and since my partner is all over the place too its best if we wait and see where our feelings bring us. Thank you for your support and I wish a healthy and successful journey of TTC!

WOW mmsk, I can only imagine how you are feeling after the 2nd MC. You should just like me crying and feeling all types of way about other pregnancies. I am just so ready for my body to be normal again. I never once thought this could or would happen to me. But from what I hear its so common. (Doesnt feel that way though). I wish you the best in your healing journey emotionally and physically..maybe we will both get a sticky bean one day and we can be bump buddies. Happy BDing!

So ladies just an update... AF showed up this morning!:happydance::happydance:

Its only been 28 days since I had the natural MC. I didn't have any signs of ovulation either. I always feel myself ovulate and get typical CM signs.. maybe things wont truly be normal until after the first cycle? Does anyone know about this? I also have cramps which I NEVER get with AF so I hope I do not get cramps for AF from now on. That would be such a bummer! :dohh:

Wow sounds like things may be getting back on track for you! I would use OPKs or closely monitor your signs of ovulation this cycle to see if things are happening at their normal time.

As for the period cramps, I hope that isn't the case for you. However, I do know that my periods changed after each pregnancy (well, it hasn't been long enough for me to tell after my chemical pregnancy, but for sure after the two live births). When I was younger I had excruciating periods, then after I had my first daughter they were great. That continued for about five years until I had my second daughter, then my periods started to become a bit more intense. Not as bad as they were originally, but not as easy as after my first daughter. I've heard other women say that their cycles seemed to reset differently after each pregnancy. However, I wouldn't stress too much about it yet, though. You are not very far out from your miscarriage. Things may even out with time. :hugs:

Isme, I have never used OPKS only because I am very in tune to my body. I use FF and My Cycles app and they are pretty spot on! I wont be TTC until I go thru 3 cycles and if my partner is ready again. I just am so ready for the heartache and pain to go away. Although I feel a little better knowing AF is finally here.

Aah, great news! I had AF at my normal time after my MMC too but I O'd late and then had only a 5 day LP! Apparently a lot of women don't O at all on their first cycle after MC (before 1st AF comes). I have heard that MC can mess up your cycle for up to 3 cycles, but my 2nd and 3rd cycles have been normal so far.

Hope you are doing ok x x

EverythingXd...i dont think i understand what you said..what do you mean women dont O before 1st AF...if they didnt O how did they get their cycle?

It's an anovulatory cycle. I can't remember the exact science but it's something like... whatever hormone it is that builds the lining, it continues to build up if O doesn't occur until the lining is too thick and sheds. Also it's to do with the hormone levels, I can't remember which one (estrogen I think) but whatever hormone it is that builds up your lining, it can't sustain it and eventually the lining will break down even in the absence of O.

Hi Loved so glad you got your af back x it must be a relief.

Hi to Everything and everyone else I had a miscarriage at 10.5 weeks a week ago Thursday after seeing baby's hb at 7+2 weeks. Very sad. I'm desperate now to get my cycle back as I will be 44 in October - my hcg is hovering around 20iu does anyone know how long to get af back? Will it be another 4 weeks from now as I still have hcg in my system? Thanks and so sorry for the losses you have suffered x

Hey Sunshine...so sorry for your loss. After reading a lot of other womens stories and articles online...they say AF will come when your body reaches less than 2 or -5 hcg level. I have also read that its normal if AF shows up 10w post MC. I would say consult with your doctor if AF doesnt show up by then.

My mom had a baby at 41 after a tubal pregnancy so I would you can still get pregnant at your age! Best wishes to you and your TTC journey

Hi Sunshine, so sorry for your loss. It's awful seeing the baby's HB and then later being told baby hasn't made it. It happened to me with my MMC in June so I really can empathise

I think it is on average 4-6 weeks from MC to first AF, it often takes longer to come than your normal cycle length due to it not starting until HCG has gone from your system. I hope it doesn't keep you waiting too long :hugs:

AFM, I stupidly got my hopes up in the last day or two :dohh: I've had BB pain for nearly a week now (which I didn't have since MC) and for a couple of days I've had heart palpitations. I googled heart palpitations + pregnancy and came up trumps with this being a symptom, so then foolishly tested this morning (9dpo)... BFN. And of course I've barely had any BB pain now today, easing off ready for AF in 2 days time (11 day LP is typical for me).

I've since found that heart palpitations is a symptom of peri-menopause! That is unfortunately more likely for me! Why was I so stupid as to get my hopes up?! Doh doh doh!!
