I never imagined what a ride my first pregnancy would be. At week 7 I had severe morning sickness. I barely held any food down at all, and lost 7kgs up until it stopped at week 14.

At week 16 I began being unable to urinate if my bladder was full. It was so painful and distressing. I talking to Oby about it and they had no idea what was wrong. Did anyone else have this problem? What did your doc say?

After that I had a nice couple months enjoying my pregnancy up until week 31. I began itching and I'd wake up with scratches everywhere. I went to the chemist looking for a cream thinking it was normal itching and a very nice lady there told me I needed to go to hospital, that it wasn't normal. Thank goodness she did. I had bloods done that day and was devastated to find out that I had Obstetric Cholestasis. My dreams of a natural birth were gone as I was told I would probably be induced at 37 weeks. I was placed on ursodeoxycholic acid immediately. I was also regularly monitored with weekly bloods and stress tests as well as weekly appointments.

A week later after another scan it was found that I had gestational diabetes. I was always very scared of needles and to find out that I now had to give myself a needle 4 times a day, things weren't going very well.

Things continued with me very depressed and at hospital 3 days a week. When I was 34 weeks I went in for my usual appointment and was told that my liver tests had declined too much and I had to be admitted for constant monitoring. I was down in hospital watching all the new mums and worrying about my baby. While in hospital I was given steroid injections to help my babys lungs but unfortunately they didn't react well with me. My pulse rate shot up to 120 and then to 165 with a room of doctors panicking. Has anyone else had a reaction like that to steroids? I'm really scared of having to have them again in my next pregnancy.

I spent a week in hospital when they decided that while my liver levels were declining, they were declining slowly and so with increased monitoring, I could go home.

I went home Monday morning and that night I suddenly developed such an excruciating pain in my chest and back. I couldn't lay down, walk or anything. My husband took me straight to the birthing suite where they weren't sure what was happening. I was now very sick vomiting and crying. They gave me lots of painkillers and eventually the pain eased. The doctor that night was very busy with emergency c sections, she said that something was wrong with some of my organs in the blood test but she wasn't sure what and sent me home.

A couple days later at my appointment I was told that it was acute pancreatitis (potentially life threatening) and caused by my cholestasis. The doctors decided that my baby needed to come out now before I had another attack (I was 35 weeks) however labor was too risky in my state and so I was placed on fluids for 2 days before being induced. Has anyone else developed pancreatitis with ICP? I've tried looking online but couldn't find anything linking them.

The whole process of inducing involved cervadil, balloons and then breaking my waters. All of this was pretty terrible and painful. However the day of my labor when my waters were broken, I was given an epi immediately. I felt no pain and my labor involved watching tv. However alarms started sounds as my babies heartrate started dropping.

The doctors were watching closely unsure whether to do a caesarean yet when I told my midwife I needed to push. She didn't believe me as it had only been an hour and a half and she didn't think I was in active labor yet. She checked though and sure enough my baby was on the way out. After only a few pushes I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy weight 6'4.

He was placed on me straight away and then taken away to be checked. I was told he would come straight back but instead he was taken to the special care nursery. Hes now 3 months old and doing great after a week in the nursery.

hey hun congratulations on the birth of your gorgeous baby.

have you spoken to anyone about how your pregnancy and birth went? If not then id ask about it either through a health visitor or a doctor. Sorry you had such a horrible time. Iv no experience with anything that you went through apart from the constant check ups as from 32ish weeks i was on weekly then twice a week blood tests and traces to make sure my 2nd was growing ok and that my bloods were fine as my blood pressure was slowly rising.

sending you big big hugs hun! The best thing you cna do it talk, talk and talk some more. I never talked about my 1st birth with anyone and i wish i had.. it traumatized me so much that i had an elective section with my second xx

Sounds like you have been through an awful time. I can't relate with any of your problems only that I had a traumatic birth with my don which led to post natal depression. I had low levels of bile on my liver with my last pregnancy but they wasn't concerned. Just extra monitoring and I went into labour myself. Just wanted to send a big hug and one to your baba aswel x

I understand and can sympathise with many of your complications - with my son I had obstetric cholestasis, pre-eclampsia, induction of labour at 36w, ventouse delivery, haemorrhage, severe anemia, pulmonary embolism (blood clots on my lungs) and gallstones (leading to the removal of my gallbladder - related to the cholestasis).

So I just wanted to send big hugs and I know what you went through/are going through. It took me a very long time to come to terms with my pretty horrendous pregnancy but now at 10 months postnatal I have found out I'm expecting again! I'm really hoping this pregnancy is a bit smoother - only if its because they are well aware of my previous problems and that I will be monitored like a hawk right from the beginning! If you ever want to talk, feel free to message me :)

That is quite a load of complications - you are such a warrior to have withstood them all :)
