and they not even about me. To explain - me and my partner have been ttc now for 18mths now and i am getting rather stressed out about it all. The thing is i have pco's and a bicornuate uterus and when i went to my GP for help last sept she said she would if i really wanted to but wasn't very concerned enough to refer me to a fertility specialist as i do have the problems and so it will take a lot longer than normal and a normal couple can take upoto 2 years!! Knowing all of this i have came away and struggled through getting really upset at times. So recently my partner being 10 years older than me at 37 he decided to go talk to his GP and get a sperm test done. We are waiting the results at the end of this week and i am so nervous. Alot more than i have shown him as what happens next?

I looked it up and apparently there is nothing they can do for a low sperm count!!!! That destroyed me and again i haven't told him as not to make him nervous but what if???

Also just wanted to ask a bit of advice if i may? What do you all advise on what ever the results should we choose to go through his GP? Reason i ask is i think we should as his dr was alot more helpful towards us when my partner told him abt my problems and then his GP said also takin his age into consideration he'd refer him for the sperm test. Do you also think the process may be quicker through his gp as because of my partners age and my problems??

So sorry for the essay and i look forward to recieving all your replies.

Thank you so much for reading if you do x x

Hey Butterfly,

We had the same issues with a gp so we just found another....DH is a fair bit older than me too, so we asked the gp to do SA because of his age - and they did...unfortunately dh's sperm was at 15million and they prefer 20million so he's been on vitamins since...

i dont have any issues -apart from not falling preggers yet and getting sooooo frustrated:wacko:....just finished a pack of clomid so now im waiting to ovulate and hopefully it works for us this month.....hopefully the clomid will give dh's :spermy: more of a target seeing its suppose to enhance ovulation...fingers crossed it actually does..

But regarding your husband i'd definately go to his GP and get him referred to get a test done asap...at least u will then know... have you thought about getting referred to a fertility specialist?

where do u live butterfly?

good luck Xo:hugs::hugs:

I think its up to you to decide if you want to go a FS. Considering your DH's age, I would definitelyl try a FS. They are much more specialised than a GP and I don't think you want to wait 2 yrs before trying a FS, would you? My logic is, if the technology and specialists are there to help you, why not make use of it? Esp. if your insurance covers those visits.

Pink32 - May I ask how you managed to conceived 2 kids with yr hubby's SA? I think 15mil is not bad. My hubby had his at 8mil! But he's going a bacterial infection, which acc. to my research on the internet is one of the leading causes of low Sperm count and once treated, it should increase "drastically". But we're also still waiting for hubby to finish his antibiotics before testing his sperm count again.....

sorry to hear about ur hubby's infection....hope its nothing serious...i have dh on the vits and just took my first round of clomid to give his :spermy: a better target...apparantly my FS told me yest they're expecting me to release 2 eggs so hopefully one will fertilise.....fingers crossed xoxo

Thank you both for your replies. Appologies for the rant and thanks for you reply. I just had to get it off my chest yesterday i was feeling so low an down about it all, My dh has just been and has a sperm sample test done we are just waiting on the results and then i will take it from there. Think i will go back to my GP with my dh's results and lots of questions. Also think i will ask her for clomid or metformin to be going on with while i wait to be reffered and tell her to refer us!! Thanks again.

Pink32- I live in England, Liverpool. U?

HI Butterfly,

don't apologies for venting - i know how u feel...i get like that...as a matter of fact i'm feeling a bit anxious at the moment.

i'm currently ovulating either today or tommorow - had positive opks yesterday morning - so i'm hoping it actually works for us this cycle. My FS nurse told me i should be ovulating 2 eggs this cycle seeing i've responded very well to the clomid.- but now it all depends on whether we catch those eggies and the :spermy::spermy: make it....GO,spermies go!!!

DH is also feeling stressed - said he hates watching me take drugs and everything else-because of his lower SA....it's so frustraing honestly...i wish it wud just happen!

we've been trying for 1 year now and it feels like a lifetime....

don't stress out too much until u get your dh's SA back - easier said than done - i know!

i live in Sydney, Australia...

keep us posted babe...:hugs:
