I went to my OB yesterday as a follow up ultrasound to my last one where he suspected possible placenta accreta. Now he doesn't think it's accreta as he sees a clear cut border and definition although not 100% sure. He is sure that it looks like possible previa as its 1cm away from my cervix, so very low. I don't have any bleeding thank god which he said is great however I've been told to take it easy. No sex and not too much physical work. I heard it can move but he never once mentioned that possibility. Instead he's having me meet a maternal fetal specialist on Jan 8 for a second opinion to make sure it's not accreta and that its just previa. Not thrilled. Kind of surprised as I had zero symptoms of this. Worried because I don't want to bleed and many people do. I'm having another csection (my third) anyway so that's that. Just wondering if anyone had or has this condition? He said if i were spotting or bleeding that i would be on bedrest so I'm trying my best to avoid that shit :nope:

Never had that or even heard of it. Hope that it will move to a more safer area for you and your baby girl. :hugs:

I know it's easier to say than to do, but try not to stress about it too much. I'm seeing a maternal fetal medicine specialist due to various factors, and on my last ultrasound (18w6d) my placenta was partially covering my cervix. She said it's normal early in pregnancy, and will usually move up as the pregnancy progresses, and the uterus grows. I'm on the same restrictions as you (no sex, no heavy lifting, etc.) I'm booked for another scan at 21w4d to check it again. Just try to take it easy, and hopefully your appointment with the specialist puts your worries to rest.

So stressful isn't it :( I'm afraid of having a bleed! I guess it just took me by surprise as I didn't think there was anything wrong. I just went in for routine ultrasound and my OB spent more time taking pics of my placenta than of the baby! I go back in 3 weeks to meet with the specialist. My question is why a maternal fetal specialist? What will he do?

Wow that's scary. I was told I have anterior placenta and had a previous csection. So I will find out next week if placenta is anywhere near the scar. Hoping for good news for both of us.

It's good they are on the ball! You're 15 weeks, so the placenta is likely to move up. With previous scar tissue, its possible that placenta crosses over and that might cause complications. You're in good hands. Your ob refered you fr a second opinion & shows an excellent professional attitude. You'll be monitored closely to ensure its not a fused placenta and hopefully it won't be a previa either. And that would make this just a little scare.

Honestly my OB is incredible. He's been keeping an eye out for my placenta since my 9.2 week scan is when he thought he saw something! He's so professional and well respected in his field he's the most sought out OB with over 35 years experience, I couldn't be in better hands and for that I'm so so thankful. I'm really hoping it's not accreta, I could deal with previa but not accreta. I do not want haemorrhaging and I refuse blood transfusions that whole concept makes me sick to my stomach. Just praying all is well xx

I had complete previa with my 4 yo daughter. All the way up until 30ish weeks. It ended up moving out of the way with no issues at all :) I did have pelvic rest nearly the whole pregnancy. But no bleeding, not even a little. I wouldnt have even known about it except for the ultra sound. Try not to worry too much. :D

That is so so So comforting! Thank you for sharing I needed that. I'm sick of worrying. Terrified of bleeding :( I've become a hypochondriac.

Is it a religious refusal fr blood transfusions? I have a friend who has had a fused placenta & blood transfusion saved her life. She would have never had a chance of holding her baby if she refused.

I just can't deal with the risk of possible diseases with blood transfusions. Despite their claim to being safe I don't trust it at all and it makes me sick :(

Doctorso sometimes like to give worsee case so your prepared. Just remember there isn't much you can do if it cousin bleeding. Stress only makes it worse. Honestly I was more stressed about the lack of nookie lol the months drag. Yours only sounds low lying and those almost alway move in loads of time as your baby grows so does the placenta .

I wonder why my dr didn't even mention the possibility of it moving? Weird since it's so common you'd think he would put my mind at ease...

You would think. Google partial or low lying placenta previa. It nearly always moves. Maybe it's because he doesn't know for certain that's what it is?

If it makes you feel any better I have an anterior placenta which at 13+ weeks was covering the cervix AND I've had 2 previous sections. I've also had bits and pieces of pinky brown on wiping on and off.

I think they've talked less about it moving with you because of your two previous sections - that makes it less likely to move (although not impossible)

I'm terrified of bleeding just like you. And desperate for my placenta to move. I know it's early days and EVERYONE says don't worry it will move, but having the previous double scar does change things for us a bit so I keep obsessing over that.

Good luck and I'm here if u need a chat x

Oh sorry you are in same boat Hun. Mine is also anterior! And because of the previous 2 sections it's not likely to move. Not the same as though if it were my first and it was random previa. This is precisely why I'm concerned and why I think my dr didn't even mention the possibility of it moving but rather wants me to consult a maternal fetal specialist. On top of that he's concerned the previous scarring may cause placenta to fuse to uterine wall ( placenta accreta) which is my real worry. I don't really care much about previa as long as there's no haemorrhaging. But accreta is a serious life threatening condition. I'm having another csection either way and this will be my last so I could care less about the placenta moving for vagibal birth I want it to move so I don't bleed in third trimester. :(

Same as me basically! Will be having a planned section anyway would just rather avoid a caesarean hysterectomy due to haemorrhage!

It's different in the UK, they don't even call it a praevia until the third trimester. They only comment on it at your 20 week scan, and then all they do is book you a scan around 34 weeks to see if it has moved. So the only reason I know mine is low is because I had a scan last week due to spotting and she said everything was fine. So I asked specifically if it was low and she said yes. But nobody will be doing any MRIs or contacting any MFM specialists until it's a persistent low placenta later in the pregnancy. I think I prefer it like this, otherwise it's going to be a loooooong pregnancy!!

I'm in Canada and my OB is paranoid lol. I never had any bleeding just a routine ultrasound and my dr said he's not technically calling it previa yet although it's more than low it's less than 1cm away from cervix so he said it is previa but he also confirms it later on. The MFS is really to make sure it's not accreta he thought he saw a clear definition but wants to make absolutely sure... Which I'm fine with. I just need to know what I'm going into before being cut open lol. Gotta say I'm really surprised at the whole thing. He said no sex no lifting nothing too crazy. When I asked if I could travel he said yes but not to Europe or Caribbean lol. He's allowing me to go to Miami though if I take it easy...
