So last night my normal braxton hicks contractions turned into very painful regular contractions that I had to really concentrate and breath through so after about an hour of this and they didnt go away I had DH take me to L&D. I get up there and they put me on the monitor and saw that I was contracting so they said they needed to check my cervix. They check my cervix and said I am still the same so I am going home. WTF????? I was sitting there have contractions 5 mins apart and barely talking through them and they were sending me home? I told them they needed to give me medicine to stop the contractions before I left and they said that they are not going to stop them because at this point my body needs these contractions to prepare for the real deal. WTF???????????

So I go home and I am in pain ALL night, the bath doesnt help and to top it all off I have a tooth that needs pulled and the pain from that is making my mouth THROB!! I called the clinic this morning and talked to my nurse practitioner and she said if the OB-gyn wouldnt do anything for me then there is nothing she can do because she does not have medicine in the clinic to stop the contractions and since she works under the OB-gyns she has to call them for orders anyways. Ugghhhh I can not believe they are doing this to me....ok rant is over...sorry ladies

:hugs: Sorry you are having a rough time. I hope you start to feel better soon.

Im sorry! If they keep on being extremely painful, I would go back to the doctor and get checked again. YOu would think with the pain youre describing something would be going on down there.

:( awwwww hugs feel better soon youll be holding your bunddle of joy

Sounds like you had a stressful night. I know here if your having contractions but making no changes they will send you home after the 34 week mark. They also dont give meds to stop labor after 34 weeks here because it can cause more harm then good and the doctor told me if your in true labor after 34 weeks they arent very effective anyways. I would much rather be sent home if nothings going on and be able to relax in my own bed or bath then sit in the hospital. at 35 weeks I was having contractions 2-3 mins apart but they were not making any changes after about 2 hours so i was sent home. After a bit of a rest they slowly died away and now I just get a few a day. It sounds to me like you maybe have a very irritable uterus. If you do it can cause you to have horrid contractions but they will basically do nothing to your cervix.

Just try and take it easy, rest as much as possible, drink lots of water and enjoy being able to be in the comfort of your own home rather then hooked up to monitors and IV's in the hospital until you have to be.

Thats what I was thinking. I called the clinic this morning like I said and she said there is really nothing more to do so I told her that as soon as they get as bad as they were last night I will go right back to L&D and I will just keep going up there until something is done about this!!

Thanks for sharing. Yes I think I do have a very irritable uterus and I do think that I am having Horrid pointless contractions. I just wish they would have given me something to calm them down so I could have gotten comfortable. My NP did make it clear this morning that they will no longer stop them because of the reasons you have stated and she said that since I have been given steriods and will be 35 weeks on Friday then there really is no reason to stop them. Plus she thinks I am a week ahead of my ticker which would put me at 36 weeks on Friday! I want him to stay in as long as possible so i am okay with these being pointless contractions, just wish they were not so painful and horrid lol
