Well the sleeping loads as stopped and although I love her being awake so much I'm finding it so hard to make bottles ever 2-3 hours. Sometimes I just can't be arsed! Obviously I have to but it is becoming a drag. She isn't a bad baby but doing the night shift alone every night doesn't half become tiring. I'm so busy cleaning up after everyone during the day when she decides to sleep most, then at night she is hardly ever asleep, so I'm just finding it hard to find time to sleep. Uggh, I don't want to complain I love doing stuff for her but I need a rest.

Could you not try having little naps during the day when she has hers ?

Sorry to hear your so tired all the time xxx

yeah i agree with rachel sleep when she sleeps sod everyone elses mess you need to look after yourself to huni

Little naps here and there will work wonders I'm sure, even if they aren't particulaly long. Hope you feel better soon x

I agree with the others, try and nap when she does :hugs:

Try and nap with her, and if the housework slide's, then let it, You are more important, your not superwomen. U need a rest

:hug::hug::hug:

Make a bunch of bottles ahead of time... Enough for the day or the night (12 hours)

When you feed her one, set the next one out to be ready for the next feed.

And YES SLEEP WHEN SHE SLEEPS.

Your not allowed to do this anymore, as bacteria can build up in the bottle and cause serious harm to your baby.

Its suppose to be make it up as she needs one.

My understanding is that you can make up bottles you need and refrigerate them... and pull them out up to two hours prior to feeding and be ok.

I no that they now say don't make them up til before feed but there's so many different rules now i think there could be a few people on here that prob make feeds for the day, especially the mums with older children who made bottles up for them.

I'm sure makin a feed up so its ready can't do much harm- especially in the nite when your half asleep. I hope that didn't sound arsey- i sometimes struggle to get across what i mean x x:hug:

Tips for safe bottle feeding
Do: Use a sterilised bottle, cap and teat for every feed.
*Do: Make up one feed at a time and throw away any milk left in a bottle after a feed. *
Do: Use boiled tap water that has been left to cool for up to half an hour to make up a feed.
Do: Always put the boiled water into the bottle before the powdered milk.
Do: Level off the scoop gently with a knife. Make sure that the milk powder is not packed down.
Do: Test the temperature of the milk on the inside of your wrist before you give it to your baby.
Do: Throw away any leftover milk.
Don't: Swap scoops from different makes of infant formula milk as they come in different sizes.
Don't: Heat the milk in a microwave oven - it is dangerous. The milk may be unevenly heated and could burn your baby

This is from a uk website called Healthy starts, which the goverment runs.

The reason its telling you too make up one bottle of a time is because of the growth of bacteria.

I need to go and make lunch but i will find more info, need to go my midwifery forum ;)

I know what you mean but this came about because a lot of babies in France died from this, and that how they found out what was causing it. It is very serious, if they became ill through this. I only know all this because as i said before i very active in midwifery stuff, (Thats cause i want to be a midwife lol would have been one this sept but gave up my uni, place to be with my OH lol)

aww hun it will get better :hugs:

as for bottles I make mine up for the day then refigerate them done it with all of mine and never had a problem its the same as now weaning from 6 months if id left mine till 6 months they wouldve chewed their arms off

Have you seen that kit they sell. I think its by Lindum. Its for your bottles tho it only holds one i think they'd be handy for night feeds. You store 2 readymade bottle in the cooler and then theres a heater for when its feed time. Ok so its a bit of a gadget but a) i'm thinkin it might be quicker than going downstairs and b) if it means you get 10 more mins sleep so be it!

Read this,

The official, Department of Health Advice, which is based on fact, says that bottles made up in advance and/or with water which isn't hot enough can result in babies getting gastroenteritis, due to the fact that the milk powder isn't sterile. Some babies in France died due to this problem.

I just wanted to give you a hug Toria as I've been there. I can't exactly say it's gotten much better but it does get easier. He sometimes will wake up every hour but I will take each hour I can up until 10am. I know it seems really overwhelming in the middle of the night but your doing great mama!

:hugs:

I know how you feel hun.

Don't know what bottles you're using but if you're using tommee tippee they do power dispensers to go inside the bottles so you can have the bottles ready to make up...

https://www.mothercare.com/gp/produ...f=sr_1_8/202-6062378-5606242?ie=UTF8&mcb=core

they are an absolute godsend... not sure if avent or whoever do the same but if they do, you should try them

It will get better hun, hang in there :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Yeah those powder dispensers are AMAZING! If you aren't using tommee tippee bottles then you can buy a triple dispenser which holds 3 feeds worth of powder from some shops (these are about £3.50 in tescos) and you just need to put the right amount of boiled water in each bottle then add the powder just before the feed and you get a fresh bottle everytime. I use the tommee tippee ones though and as amy_tea said they sit just inside the neck of the bottle. Either way this method takes a lot less time as you only need to do it probably twice a day (ie. make up 4 bottles first thing in the morning with fresh water and then 4 just before bedtime instead of doing say 8 individual bottles)
Does caitlin have to have them warm? My HV said to give them at room temp. but this doesn't suit all babies. If she does have them warm do you have a bottle warmer? I've got a spare avent one that you can have if you'd like it? this heats a bottle in 4 mins so would also save you some time!
Definitely nap whenever she does and stuff the housework!!
Hope you feel a bit better soon :hugs:
