So upset another MIL thread

Owen has a hernia and crinkly ears

MIL decided she would comment on them she said he needs the iron on those ears poor thing, and everytime she see him she jokes about getting the iron

She then said oh I want some pictures of Owen but I don't want that hernia in my pics!!

How dare she I am so upset and pissed off

Not nice at all hun. Try to ignore if u can. Is it possible that she is just speaking before thinking, rather than being deliberately cruel? MIL's are often good at that!

Jeez, from other threads I've seen you're mil seems like real hard work, I'm so sorry. I get the feeling she's the kind of woman that maybe a quick, sharp, 'you know, if you have nothing nice to say about your grandson, don't say anything. And before you say I'm being sensitive, think about how you'd feel if anything said something nasty about OH'. And leave the room, with LO, before she can retort. Let her think about it. She sounds like she'll sulk, but she might get the message. xx

my MIL has had a couple of things she keeps 'jokingly' saying (i thought jokes were meant to be funny though?!? )

i have lost patience now though and i pointedly correct her on certain things because i will not now tolerate repeated comments...if she said things as a one off i could grin and bear it but it its clear its a repeated theme then she can bog off

in a deadpan voice i would say to your MIL "i think that joke has run its course thanks" or "yes you have made it clear you do not approve of his ears so perhaps we can move on..."
