im really upset today.....

since i told my boss i was pregnant things have changed

i work in a small business, only 3 of us including the boss

i have had a joke of a disciplinary which ended in me getting an improvement note, i had no idea this was coming as we have no procedure for this, so this got me down

i have been there the longest out of the 2 employees, and i was told the other week that the other girl is being made the manager, a job which i was doing up until this point

i havent been sleeping well last couple of weeks so i have been feeling run down

i called in sick today,i have got quite a bad cold this made it 3.5 days off sick since finding out i was pregnant

i was told that i should maybe think about reducing my hours of work

that it isnt fair on other staff when i have time off

i am always moaning

i was asked if my boss should be cancelling her holiday next week because i am so unreliable and she has only had 3 good days work out of me in the last month, bear in mind that this was all said to me whilst phoning in sick, it didnt make me feel any better

i am so upset and down about this i dont know what to do

any advice would be appreciated

Sounds like you are being discriminated against because of your pregnancy, on several counts. Contact your union asap. It also sounds like your boss is bullying you.

Have they only started behaving like this since you told them you are pregnant?
If so then they are discrimination against you because of this and thats not on. If its a smaller company it can be harder to work through this as they wont have the procedures in place a big company would but its not right. Legally you are very well protected being pregnant, they cant punish you for being sick if its pregnancy related.

Could you speak to your boss and explain how your feeling? Possible through email or letter and expect a written response back as then you have a record? Keep a note of everything they say to you aswell incase it gets worse

Hope it gets resolved soon hun, dont let them stres you out to much. your baby is more important then them anyway.

That's awful. I work for a small company also. Luckily my boss realises that due to the company being small, they have to be even more sure they follow the rulebook to the letter when it comes to treating employees fairly, as if they got taken to court or fined it would have serious consequences for the business.

With that in mind I think you should maybe go to the Citizens Advice Bureau, make sure you know your rights 100%, then ask to speak to your boss about the way you are being treated, and take it from there.
