Hi guys, as promised, here's my pumpkin's birth story:

I had all the labour signs on August 23rd, I even made a thread here about it asking ppl's feedback. However, I was still convinced I would be labouring later than my EDD of Aug 28, so I was a bit in denial. I had my mw appt that same day which I drove to as I thought i was still days from labour:wacko: the mw examined me and told me I was 2cm dialated and 60% effaced and I could go into labour anytime from that day till next week. But she made it sound like it would be likely next week. She told me to go home, take some gravel, and rest.

I got home and a few hours later contractions got more painful and closer to each other so we hooked me to the TENS machine which really helped. Hubby and I started timing them around 6:30 pm. And as they were getting worse, we had dinner and took a nice long shower together. We called the midwife at 7:45 pm and she was at our place at 8:10 pm. When she got there she told us she knew today was the day, but she didn't want to excite me so much so I could rest. She did an internal and I was 5 cm dialated. She called the L&D at my hospital and we left for the hospital together.

In the delivery room (around 9 pm), the contractions were much worse, so I took the TENS off and tried walking around...at some point around 10 pm or so I got into the jaccuzi as I couldn't cope anymore. I don't know how long I was in there but the pain was crazy:nope: My DH and mw were there the whole time instruction me how to cope and apparently I listened:wacko: but then it was too much and I was like "eff it give me the epidural!" I get outta tub and get another internal exam....and my mw said I was fully dialated, no time for epi!!! She then called the second mw who was there in 10 mins. I found the transition period unbelievably hard though but I managed. I was told I kept saying that this is how I would die:shrug:

I pushed for 30 mins only and she was out at 12:45 am on August 24. She was 52 cm tall and 8lbs 8oz in weight. She is so red and has so much hair (prob like my DH at birth, I was a bald baby). Luckily apparently I was a good pusher and didn't get any tears and needed no stitching.

Right after she was out:

Great birth story and photos! Congrats on your beautiful little girl!!

She is absolutely beautiful. What a great birth story. Congratulations mama, enjoy it and keep in touch :)

what a great birth story. i'm still debating about if i should ge epidural or not. i've heared that once the pain is bad it won't help much anymore. but i don't know if i could handle the pain or not. i've got 17 piercings and 3 tattoos, one of them is on my collar bone, BUT ...i always hear that that pain is WAAAAAY worst than getting needled. :o

luckily i still got time to think about it... but i think i might just try it au narturel...just like you.

congratulations to this beautiful girl and thank you for sharing your story!

I'm not gonna lie, going natural is painful. But soooo worth it! Interventions can cause more complication and also affect the baby. Sofia breasted as soon as she was out as she wasn't drugged up by epi.

The pain is not like pain of needles and stuff. It's intense but not consistent. You do get a break in between contractions. The only extreme part is the transition period but luckily also the shortest.

Just make sure you have a good support team (my DH and midwives were amazing) and you can do it :) remember our bodies are made for this. It's true as soon as you see ur baby, u forget the pain...I still don't remember what the pain felt like, just it's intensity.

HTH

Boy. I go away for a weekend and miss a lot! Congratulations!!! I'll miss the pictures of your bump. They were always so pretty :)
