Soft cervix at 28.5 weeks

Curious if anyone else has dealt with this. I get a lot of BH contractions since about 17 weeks, typically 5-10 a day. Some days I get a lot. I have a lot of back pain and a rib popping in and out of place so I think the pain makes me have those. Last week it looked like I lost my mucus plug and the dr did an exam and found a small growth on my cervix-said they weren't worried and that's what caused the spotting. They checked me and said cervix felt good and high. My dr did an exam yesterday and said my cervix looks soft but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll dilate early. I'm a little freaked out, my first labor was only 4 hours. I can't imagine if I'm softening already, will I have her early? Quick? I'm just a little scared...
