Hello
This is a bit of a confusing one but pls bare with me!!!
My sister has just gone back to work from maternity leave and really really hates her job..
She saw a perfect job advertised through a job agency and applied for it, they contacted her and put her forward for the job. The employer told the agency they were very keen to see her first and would be prepared to make a job offer following the interview if she was as her cv suggested (not a fraudster!!!).
So, she was absolutely over the moon and prepared for the interview then the agency called a couple of hours before it to say they realised she hadn't been in to register with them and it's against their policy to send ppl for interview without them being registered. They asked her to pop in before the interview which was not possible as it was more than a couple of hours round journey. Because of this, they refused to put her forward for the interview and said they would now look very unprofessional and she would regret throwing away the opportunity.
She called them again later on to try work something out and spoke to a different person who told her the employer had been informed she was unable to make it due to other commitments.
She was absolutely devastated and of course furious that they were putting the blame on her.
Now, she has the employer's email address and has asked me for advice on whether she should contact them directly, behind the agency's back, and apologise for the inconvenience caused and say she's really disappointed she couldn't be interview because of the agency's policy.
In the hopes that they might interview her or at the very least not think badly of her so she can apply for any future positions.
Do you think this is a good idea? I can't decide. Will it make her look unprofessional and sneaky?
Any advice would be great please xxxx
