Some questions about low morphology...

So my DH was diagnosed with varicocele on Oct. 31. His semen analyses show normal count, normal motility, but very low morph at 1-2% strict. We are in limbo right now, as it will be months before we get in to see a urologist and fertility specialist. I myself have not had any testing done yet.

I have a few questions that I would love to have answered if any of you have experience with low morphology and/or varicocele.

1) Does it increase the risk of miscarriage or birth defects if we get pregnant on our own?

2) DH is on Fertilaid and coenzyme Q10. Is there any other supplements we should try while we are waiting?

3) Anyone have any advice or experience in relation to our treatment options (surgery, IUI, IVF)?

Thank you ladies!
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! :flower:

Hi Pink, my DH also had low morph 2-3%, and his SA report states that he has severe teratozoospermia. But my obgyn went ahead with the IUI, and we were successful the 2nd round. The RE that we've consulted for IVF later said that although the morph numbers look low, we should consider it together with the sperm count and concentration. E.g. 2% of 30 million is actually still quite a lot of sperm with normal morph! He's pretty sure that my previous obgym would not have proceeded with the IUI if she had a concern with the morph.

I started my first IVF just this month. I had 14 eggs retrieved and 10 fertilized into good quality embryos by Day 3 of retrieval.

My DH has low morphology (2-3%) but great everything else and we've been told not to worry too much and a lot of what I've read suggests it's not a great barrier to conception and successful pregnancy.

My DH has 4% morphology. That coupled with my low AMH-- we are moving forward with IVF. DH is taking Maca, Vitamin C and Coq 10.

Hmm, I guess there is some controversy out there regarding morph! But I think I will still pursue treatment, just in case. The wait is months long to see the specialists, so maybe I will get a surprise BFP while I wait! Thanks ladies.
