Someone ever tried old-wives-tales for TTC?

Hi, I am Heather and in search for answers I stumbled onto this Forum, so I registered. Hoping to get in contact with other wannabe-mammas

My story isn't very simple, but to be short: We are already trying to conceive for over a year. Every month again doing the math, temperatures etc. Getting a little bit desperate about it, and we decided to make an appointment for advice. At the moment it is ruining my live, ruining my husbands live and ruining our sex-live. Probably sex is too forced at the moment, but I can't help thinking about it all the time. What to do? Sometimes I don't know it anymore.

A few minutes ago I stumbled into a internet site with a few old-wives-tales (Link:How can I get Pregnant), and believe it or not: I want to try them. It could never hurt I guess. Doing the baby-bicycle, handstand, and I am even considering the baby-dance.....LOL :happy dance:
Also I nice story about someone being 'blessed' to have a baby. Very touching....

Anyone over here already tried one or more of these old-wives-stories? Would love to hear them and if they 'succeeded'.....

Good luck TTC and with the old wives tales, sounds like fun! I've not tried any of them but I have got a lucky horseshoe under my bed, propped up against the skirting board Hey who knows!!

As long as it is not harmful, it can't hurt to try!

I think it is fun to try....If it doesn't help, than at least it is a lot of fun....

Hiya hun, ikwym about everything being forced around ov time. We'll really struggling with the sx. To take a bit of pressure of we've just tried spermies direct into a softcup, preseed then soft cup inserted. So fx for this!! As we too are v desperate at this stage. If u find any other good old wives tales please share!!

Since we are talking wives tales and you mentioned JIASC....jizz in a soft cup, there is a theory that preseed straight out of the tube and into the cup, is too cold for the jizz and shocks the swimmers....yes, I spent a month trying to figure out how to heat PS to body temp.

I am trying the theory of having an orgasm soon after DB is done. Supposedly creates a "suck up" affect for the sperm. Again...no harm so it can't hurt to try!

I would be careful about standing on your head though~
I couldn't do that normally let alone after Lmao!

Not a bad idea but I think the theory has more to do with the uterine contractions you get in a good O vs vaginal with kegals. And kegals are not as fun. But I am not the weaver of the theory...I believe it was Native American. Could be complete whoo-haa. That's why they are old wives tales I guess

I found this when researching CM...kegals not a good idea..
"If you are having trouble finding cervical fluid, doing kegel exercises (tensing and relaxing the muscles that control the flow of urine) may help to push cervical fluid to the vaginal opening and make observation easier. (Avoid doing kegels within the first half hour or so after intercourse though as this could push the semen and therefore the away from the cervix, which is exactly where you want them to be)."

In regards to the big O~
'n theory, an orgasm could help you get pregnant, but experts agree it's definitely not necessary. During an orgasm, the uterus contracts, causing a vacuum effect which could theoretically move up into the uterus. But Sandra Gahn, co-author of The Infertility Companion: Hope and Help for Couples Facing Infertility points out, "There's a certain logic in this theory, yet while studies have shown such a vacuum effect exists, whether it actually brings about a higher pregnancy rate is unproven."

warning TMI....

I truley believe orgasm helps... i went 3 yrs without a and the one cycle i tried a new "toy" ( actually had an ogasm the same time as OH) i got pregnant.... just a fluke i dont know..BUT I usually don't O during sex so.....
I'm thinking thats what helped me.
Fun to try anyway.....lol
and as for keigels.... i tried it once after OH "finished" and it pushed all the out.

The month we conceived, I did the legs in the air afterwards thing. It had taken 11 cycles, so maybe it helped, who knows? Good luck hun xx

Re: the orgasm theory...I remember watching a documentary at least 18 yrs ago about the reproductive system (was a BBC one believe it or not) and they actually used a camera to film what the uterus opening does during an orgasm - it not only created a vacuum, but it dipped forward quite a few times. I was younger and impressionable when I watched it and it has stuck in my head since then so I would say it cant hurt to try Not as if it's an unpleasant thing to try .......

Can't believe I'm writing about this, but if it helps its worth it isnt it x
