dont you just hate it when members of family try and tell you what to do with your baby?? things to use ect, ect im getting really pissed off with certain members of family who keep telling me to heat amy's milk in the microwave, what sterilisers we should use and anything else they can think of!! its really pissing me off. this is my 2nd child and im pretty sure i know wat i am doing and i just wish people would keep their nose out of my business and concentrate on looking after their own kids!!!
the best one is my OH's 20 year old sister who has no kids and she says "just stick the bottle in the microwave its no different" which is why people like her shouldnt even have kids!!!!!!!!

we all have different ways of doing things that suit us best!!

anyone else have family that just poke their nose in?

My family dont stick there noses in trying to tell me whats best but i have had this question asked when Brooke was about 6 weeks old ..

"Why dont you paint her nails, i did when so and so was that age"

:saywhat:

you can't heat in the microwave as the heat is unevenly distributed and can cause scolding! Well said,

I hate it when ppl intefere when they aint got a clue!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I've had this one too! :dohh: On top of the obvious reasons not to.... Jasper is a boy! :dohh:

I get it from my OH's family. They know EVERYTHING and I dont, aparently.

Even his sister who doesn't have children knows more about parenting and Jasper's sleeping habits than I do! She even told me what I should experience with pregnancy and labour!

And dont get me started on my MIL and FIL - because it'll never end!

My family is great, my mum gives asked for advice, which has a whole other feel to it - if my mum gives me unwanted advice, I tell her so, but I usually ASK her for guidance! My dad and brother stay well clear of the whole baby thing altogether - they have cuddles and play time - but they wouldn't know one side of a nappy from the other, so they just stay out of it!

Yep i get it!

from EVERYONE from my mum to family members i havent seen in years!! I have to really bite my tounge when i get stupid comments like "oh my god you havent got a coat on her...i hope youve packed your changing bag properly"

excuse me but she hasnt got a coat on coz its hot the coats in my bag for when she needs it!
i get told how to wash her, fed her, clothe her, play with her, hold her EVERYTHING

I've been there, experienced it and have the T-shirt! Although she's not anything as bad now as she was, my MIL still knows how to stick her oar in! With Faith she was a nightmare but she's not as bad with Ollie. With Faith I was criticised over everything over how I put her to bed to what I fed her. If I used jars she'd slate them and if I made my own food she's turn her nose up at it and say "what's that?" I couldn't win. She use to say to me that Faith could choke and die if she was sick as I lay her on her back to go to sleep. When I use to say that was how you lay babies down now she'd just say "oh you wait in 20 years they'll say they got it wrong and tell you to put babies on their front again" She doesn't say it now but she does still question if Ollie was sick what would happen cos I put him on his back. She's right and the whole world is wrong and I'll never win so just let it go these days. Oh and to prove the oddness of it all, she use to refer to herself as mummy and not nanny! and still now she'll pass the kids to my FIL and say "here you are dad" x:saywhat:

My mam keeps doing this and makin suggestions so i say well now they advise different and its no longer done like that and her reply is always well thats what we did!!! Errrmmm yeah mam that was 26 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hissy:
