Hiya girls

I need a bit of advice regarding Sienna's poo LOL!

She is now 100% FF on aptimil and we have noticed that sometimes her poo is a greyish colour.. Other times its a yellowy colour.. And although not as wet as a BF poo they are not hard.

I am concerened that maybe she isnt agreeing with the milk she is on, she does get upset sometimes before having a poo...
She is quite good with her wind and generally gives me some great burps and brings back whatever she doesnt need, which isnt usually alot ....

So would you think that maybe she isnt an Aptimil girl? I am wondering if to change her to Cow & Gate and seeing how we go... xx Ta xx

I would talk to your HV

Alex is on aptamil and he hates having a poo he moans and moans Hv said that some babies do that lol

Cant help with the colour

Rebecca has been on Aptamil from day one and although we get plenty of wet nappies we only get a 'poo' nappy every 3 days or so, when we do get one it is always runny and yellowish in colour and there is always loads of it. HV says that this is fine.
I did read that a baby on formula would have greyish poo but not Rebecca!
Agree about maybe checking with HV.

Not sure about the colour but we started off on aptimil and had no end of problems with Phoebe's poo. She would go every 4 days but be in constant pain 'trying' to go, once she did it was bright yellow and extremely explosive. We would then have a day of her being fine before her stomach went hard and she went back to being uncomfortable. It was a vicious cycle. We kept her on it for 6 weeks before changing to cow and gate and within no time at all she was pooing every day and much happier.

We FF 100% from day one.

It is normal for them I think to be more "solid" than BM poos, and for them to be bigger. It isn't uncommon for babies on formula to deal with constipation or gas. She is still quite young, I wouldn't advocate switching formulas unless it's out of necessity, personally.. it can be hard on their tummies. If you were BFing for the first while it may be the transition she is dealing with right now that you are noticing?

If you want to switch formulas I think you should speak to your HV, doctor, or someone and see what they think :)

This sounds just like Sienna :( Sometimes her poo is like play dough almost. I know baby poo isnt always soft but i didnt think she should be like this.

I am seeing my HV today so will ask her and look into maybe changing her milk, my son was a Cow & Gate baby and i never had any trouble with him.

Thanks for all the replies girls xx

Leah, it's worth considering Aptamil Easy digest before you switch. Isobel was on Easy digest until 3months.

Brady is on SMA and moans and groans when it comes to having a poo. He normally goes in the morning but from the evening before will be straining. I've been giving him a bit of water and some infacol with his night feeds which seems to help a lot, he's bringing up more wind and is comfortable enough to sleep. My MW said that this is as much as I can do at the mo, before I gave him water his poos were quite solid although they've always been yellow.

Def ask your HV though, she might give you some more ideas.

Thanks for all the replies x

I spoke to my HV last week and she said that because Sienna was mix fed to start with it would take her belly a few days to settle on just formula... And i am pleased to say she is now doing great.. No more odd coloured poo and no more unhappy baby :D
