I had to do a day at work on friday (3 weeks after section and work isn't strenuous but busy) and when I came home on friday night I had a bit of brown bleeding (I haven't bled since a week after the op) and felt a bit period crampy. Anyone else experience this? I'm hoping I haven't overdone things.

It's very possible that your period has started, especially if you are not breastfeeding. If it gets extremely heavy or there are big clots, I'd call the doc.

i am breastfeeding so thought it was a bit early but I remarked to a friend that i felt like my period was coming and sure enough, i had spotting that evening....

Gave my midwife a call and she said it could be my period despite breastfeeding and to go to the doc if it gets very heavy.

Oh good. I'm glad you got an answer. Didn't mean to assume anything, there, either. I just know that BFing can make it take longer to come back. I was unable to the first time around, and it was pretty quick to come back.

Well hopefully it is a period! I'm still a bit surprised it's come so early but the flow isn't too heavy at the mo so trying not to worry.

Post partum bleeding can stop and start, I don't think it sounds like your period just yet.

My midwife says anywhere in the 7 week time frame after birth, it's normal to have bleeding come and go. Mine has!

I was a little surprised to have fresh blood to be honest. It hasn't got any heavier and almost disappeared yesterday but it's back again today.

Sounds pretty normal. After my csection (my first and only thus far) after the PP bleeding stopped and I was "cleared" to do housework and stuff like that, if I did anything without resting for a bit in between (constantly moving) Id start bleeding again. Sometimes a drop or two, others like the start of a period. But it would stop once Id stop running around.
