Hiya

I'm hoping there may be other mums on here who do or have used Soya formula. I'm looking for reassurance that it is safe to use, and isn't detremental to LO's health (I am aware of the possible risk regarding teeth and Isoflavines)

My LO was not doing well on regular formula, had terrible tummy ache, wind and explosive nappies and a rash all over his face. I sought advice from the GP who just said carry on as we were for a fortnight and if no improvement then return (this is after already being on the formula 4 weeks). I had explained to the GP I was dairy intolerant, and worried my baby was too.
Anyway things worsened and I made the decision to try Wysoy, within 2 days the rash on his face had gone completely and he was a much happier baby. Nappies were normal, and hardly any wind. Could also be coincidence but he went from waking twice in the night for feeds to sleeping 12hrs solid within a few days.
Mentioned to GP what I had done, he referred to a paedeatric dietician, who told me I was harming my baby and Soya formula is nutritionally incomplete. I was told to put him back on cows milk for 4 days so that a stool sample could be obtained, then they would prescribe Nutramigen 1?? I tried to do this, but after just 1 bottle he was screaming in pain, his face was angry and red and he was not happy. I don't understand if they are so concerned that the Soya milk is harming him, why they don't just prescribe the Nutramigen straight away.
So please if you have used, or do use this formula would be great to hear from you. I am stuck as to what to do next, he is so settled on the Wysoy, but I don't want to risk his future health. Also if the milk is nutritionally incomplete, why is it sold on the shelf as suitable??

My baby has just been prescribed Nutramigen as she is allergic to milk and she only screams when taking it in the evening i presume due to her having colic. I dont know why they sell the Soya milk but i have also been told to avoid it however my cousins baby was put on it over a year ago! Just go back t the GP and ask him to give you a prescription for Nutramigen straight away because your baby clearly isnt taking to usual formula. I took my baby to the hospital twice and had to beg them to look into things more as they said it was 'just a tummy bug' but she was pooing out pure blood at one one point, fortunately we were in the hospital when it happened and they finally took notice. Maybe try what i did, take baby to casulty and ask them to keep you and baby in for monitoring over night, we ended up staying two nights and they started her on Nutramigen on day two and you could see the difference straight away!

Both my nieces were lactose intolerant but both had Nutramigen so can't help i'm afriad. They were both tested and their milk was then on prescription x
