Morning :flower:

I was just wondering if anyone who has suffered badly with SPD/Pelvic Girdle pain has asked to be induced early because of the evil pain and an inability to, well, pretty much walk? If so were your health proffessionals supportive?

Hi Shrimpy - my midwife referred me to a consultant a while back as I have PGP which is mainly causing trouble with my hips and sacroilliac joint. I saw a consultant back at 30ish weeks and he outlined the pros and cons of induction etc but said it was too early to make any decisions yet so I'm booked in to see the consultant again next Thursday when I will be 36+4 to discuss it further along with pain relief options. I'm far from confident that they will want to induce me because of the PGP though, from trawling google it doesn't seem as though that is usually the route consultants like to take which I guess is fair enough. The consultant I did see, having said that, was sympathetic and didn't just dismiss PGP as I'm sure some people do. The only thing going in my favour is that 2 of the local birthing units have been closed recently, so more births are taking place at the hospital and if they happen to be quiet, they might be glad for me to have my baby sooner rather than later, especially as mean as it's full moon a week before my due date lol. I can let you know how I get on next week if you like?

hi,

i got a section because of my SPD - i couldn't open my legs (really a necessity for childbirth!) and they couldn't guarantee that i wouldn't do real damage if i had an epidural and forced them open.

a section isn't the easy option though - 4 weeks on i'm still sore from that and my hips ain't back to normal yet either

you need to decide whats best for you - my consultant let me make the decision.

Ang, you live in the same place as me :) Did you ask for the section or were you offered it? What was the name of your consultant? (PM me if you prefer)

You poor thing it sounds like you had i pretty horrifically! Mine is worse this time than it was at the end with my 2nd daughter and I'm only 22weeks (nearly) I'm just terrified of how bad it MAY get at the end if it's pretty bad already.
