Hey I was just wondering..... What to expect when I go for my first specialist appointment? How long did yours take? What tests did they do? And what was the outcome?
Thanks

My fs ordered a bunch of blood work and a hsg right away also the day of my appt I had an u/s just to confirm my diagnosis of pcos so I was glad he was very quick moving :) hope urs goes great

As my doc had already arranged cd21 bloods, 2x dh sa, pelvic scan and swabs test the nurse suggested hy cosy next( awaiting for cd1 to call up and fingers crossed book an app after af has gone)
was also weighed, dh too and answered various medical questions

as I was told I have pco at my pelvic scan, the results were discussed along with all the other tests results

also going for cd2/3/4 bloods

My follow up is 12 weeks time

the nurse was nice and spent about an hour talking though with us

good luck

X

Hi Danielle,

The others are quite right in that it will probably depend on what your GP has already ordered. What have you had done so far?

Hi there,

My PCT requires CD3, CD21 and a SA before first appointment with the FS. Tbh my appointment wasnt what I expected and I later changed. But he went through both mine and DH's history... previous pregnancies... etc. He ordered an ultra sound to check everything was ok, MORE CD21's and another SA to make sure that the first SA was ok.

I got prescribed clomid at my second appointment. Good luck and hope its all goes well xxx

Hiya,

I had an ultrasound, HSG and bloods ordered at my first appointment and DH also had do a SA before RE would even get into any treatment etc. We didn't have to wait long to get our tests completed, we just finished our last cycle of Clomid and I go back to RE on the 18th of this month to see what's next :) Good luck to you!!

ive had all the bloods done and a internal done all the swabs

:haha: Oh yes forgot to add... Chlamydia and normal smear test... nice!

Mine was a long list of questions, a pelvic exam, followed by a prescription for clomid because I wasn't ovulating. Then while on clomid I had bloods taken on CD 2, 10, and 21. Ovulation did not occur with 50mg clomid.
Then OH had a SA and the news was bad. Also no more clomid for me. Then I had an HSG which cleared up my left tube :happydance: and after that i started to ovulate on my own. OH was given some super vitamins. and a repeat SA. Still bad news, still didn't qualify for ART like iui, and were told IVF was a waste of money in our situation.
I had really bad appointments..

*edit* we ended up getting preggo naturally, after we gave up on doctors...

PrayerfulHope - that gives me a lot of encouragement seeing your edited note. Wow! We got news that DH has no sperm count currently, but have not made it into the Urologist yet to determine why its that way. We've decided if we have to go through surgery to clear up the problem, we wont do it, since its expensive and not guaranteed to improve the situation. I sure hope that if we end up giving up on doctors we'll be as lucky as you two. Congrats on your news! What a relief to have it finally happen!

I just wanted to know how long after the first appt will the dr prescribe something, and how many cycles do I have to sit out. GL to all and lots of babydust

Hi, when is your appointment?

We've just got ours through and its on 22nd December! I've been asked to take results for CD2, CD21 bloods, rubella immunity, chlamydia swab and smear test, also OH's SA - so I'm booked to see the doc on wednesday to get the ones I havent already had done sorted!

Depends were you are on your journey and which specialist I guess hun, I had to wait a year but that's because I had to lose weight and get my BMI below 35 to be considered for Clomid, however they prescribed Metformin on my first visit to try that.

As I said each consultant is different,

Keep us posted and Fx everything goes your way. Good Luck xxx

I think I had 4 months inbetween 1st appointment and 2nd. I was given clomid at the 2nd appointment. xxx Good luck! :dust:

When you go bring a copy of your complete file from your other DR, every test they have done. It will save you time, money and having to go though them again! Plus, if you are in the States, depending on your insurance, if they ask you to do an HGC or another expensive tests see if your OBGYN can order it instead so it does not show up as an "infertility issue." My OBGYN ordered a bunch of my tests and saved me thousands of dollars!

Also, bring your temp. chart with you if you have been doing one, start one if not!

Good luck! I hope they have clear answers for you!

Hey all im still waiting on my appointment to come through! I had all my test back they where all clear just gotta have my bloods done thursday i need to have them! This is the second lot of tests im having doctors want a fresh lot done for the specialist! Plus my internal was fine

Good news everything has come back clear! Hope you get your appointment through soon xxx

I just had my appt on friday and the Dr said he thinks I have low progesterone. He looked at my charts for the past year especially the ones where I got pregnant, and said my temps should always increase instead of decrease. He thought I was going to O soon but I told him that I didnt think so that I should be on my period this weekend so he drew a progesterone level. Hes putting me on clomid, Hcg shots and progesterone supp. I thought he was going to draw all the things everyone said but he said getting pregnant 8 times he know I ovulate and tubes are clear. He did say that if after all the new meds if I have another loss then he will do the kyrotyping on me and husband. GL to everyone that still waiting on an appt and answers. Dont get discouraged.
