My partner and I are trying to conceive. This is our first try. We have a donor and our schedules are very conflicting so we can't be in the same place at his time of ejaculation. This first month we decided to try and I was 14 days before my period was due so we just kind of said "what the heck" and went for it without tracking much. My partner stopped by our donor's house on the way home from work and got his specimen which he had ejaculated into a non-spermicide condom and tied off and she raced home but because of traffic it took an hour. She used a syringe to insert it into me. I laid down with my hips elevated for an hour. This was on day 14. On day 10 we got another specimen and she was able to get home in a half hour this time. My period is due in 8 days now. Do you think there is a chance I could conceive? I know we need to get the specimen sooner :( Immediately. We need to work something out even if it means taking time off of work to all be together at the time he ejaculates to this can work!! I don't think the sperm could survive for an hour or half hour, can it:cry:?

Yes it can, my dh was having a hard time getting off of work for one of his routine sperm analysis, so he came home at his lunch break, did his thing into a cup provided to us by the dr office and they instructed me that I had an hour to get it to them! Maybe if this cycle doesn't work, you can go to the dr and ask for a specimen cup. May hold it a little better. Also are you tracking ovulation? Not everyone ovulates at the same time each month. It is best to get the sperm in there waiting for the egg. So really the day or two before are more ideal for fertilization.

I don't know about your partner, but when I had dhs sample I put it in the seat belt in the passenger seat! LOL! And was yelling at everyone in traffic!

Hahaha! She said she kept it in the front pocket of her sweatshirt, close to her body. Hooraaaaaay so there IS a chance!!!!! I have been tracking my period for years with a period app on my phone but that's about it - haven't been doing the temp or the ovulation tests. I did take an ovulation test the day after our first attempt and it was positive for the LH hormone!! Took it the day after the second attempt and it was much fainter but still positive. My fingers are crossed I don't see AF in 8 days! My cycle is not always 28 days, some months it's 25 and others 31. I don't know if that's considered NOT normal, but I never miss periods. AF always visits. Hopefully this time she doesn't!!! *HIGH HOPES*!!!!!!! Thank you for the reassurance!!!!!! :D

No such thing as a faint positive ovulation strip, the test line HAS to be as dark or darker than control for it to be positive, not just have two lines on x good luck btw x

I stopped using the regular opks. Of course the digital cost a little more, but it tells you when your lh begins to elevate. I use the clear blue digital, and I usually test around two pm every day starting on cd10. Your lh is more likely detected from 11 to 2. I begin holding my urine at 10 am.

lolololol i have my DH SA this thursday and I live 30 miles from my DR.. I have a feeling I will be driving like you did!

Haha. It was like I was protecting my children! Even though they weren't intended for my eggs, every since ttc, im super protective over those little swimmers!!!

Also wlovew, almost completely forgot, there is a new thing out and just became available over the counter at cvs. Its called the stork. Its really awesome. I think its about 80 bucks. Dh and I are going to try it out next cycle.

I will look into "The Stork", thank you!! And good luck to everyone on their journeys TTC!!!!

Just wanted to add, my OH did a SA the other day and because of where we live, it took us over an hour and a half to get to the hospital to deliver it. Anyway, they gave us his results and his sperm was 90% quality so it lasted well! We just made sure to keep the tube warm throughout the journey with a jumper and next to his body. x

Tomorrow is 6 days 'til AF, testing with First Response first thing in the morning!!!!!! PRAYING!!!!!!!!!! Bought 3 2-packs haha.... PLEASE, LORD, LET THIS BE MY TIME!!!

Thank you, sweetie!! BFN this morning.... *sigh* I am very concerned that doing this via a donor will not end up working. Choking back tears, this is so emotional.

How many uses can you get from the Stork? Sorry for hijacking!

I feel like it's the same as using the SoftCup method and a lot less expensive! The device is used only once and it says it's recommended to use 1-3 times a month which is $240, yikes!

Yeah it is expensive, but after all the money that dh and I have already spent its not that bad. I will probably only do one or two tries.

have you been able to connect with any of the people on this site who have conceived (or currently trying to) via donor? i haven't looked, but just from browsing i know there are a handful:thumbup: might be helpful to have some people who are going through some of the same stuff that's unique to having a donor involved? i mean, of course, we are all trying to get pregnant, so the science and the waiting and the emotional aspects don't change:haha::roll:
