Spotting or period?

Apologies in advance for tmi but I am confused and need guidance. I'm currently on cd30 or else cd1 (said I was confused!). I thought AF started last night,had bright red blood on toilet paper etc but then had nothing during the night and my tampon this afternoon only had some brown on it. I have had previous months where I spotted for a week before proper AF but never this late. Iv just been diagnosed with pcos and am suppose to start Clomid on cd5 so I have to figure this out. My period has always been quite light so don't know now if this is my normal light AF or spotting. Was also told by Gynae to start temping so have done that the past 2 days,too early to be of any help. Guess I will have to see how it goes over the next few days to see which it was. So frustrated!!!!!

You don't have to start Clomid until CD 5 so you have a few days to figure this out! The same thing happened to me last cycle and I also take Clomid so I wanted to get it right. Sounds like it may have just been some spotting if you aren't in need of a tampon/pantyliner or pad. My cycle is always light so I could CD 1 when I need to change my pantyliner at least 3 times a day and it looks fairly full. Just make your best guess, if the Clomid dosage is going to work for you it will work the same if you take it CD 4 or 5. I asked my doc about the different protocols and what it means to take it on different days, he said there is no real evidence that taking it 3-7,4-6 or 5-9 will make a difference it is just the personal preference of the doc.
