So - I twisted my ankle REALLY badly this morning while walking over a curb that I didn't see. Had me in tears. Its hurting more and more by the minute, although its not too swollen - just a little - and no bruising yet.

I'm fairly certain its sprained. I know I should ice it, stay off it, etc... but do I bother going to a doctor? Seems pointless. I mean - I don't believe anything is broken, and wouldn't want them doing xrays anyhow...

So - do I go? Would you?

Nope. you know what to do, you know what they will tell you to do..wasted time and trip.

I wouldn't go for a sprain, just do the usual (RICE) Rest, ice, compression, elevate. There's really nothing else a doctor can do.

I'd do like the other girls said and just rest up. Keep an eye on it though and watch the swelling since our blood circulation isn't as stellar to our extremities now.

From a paramedics POV, stay at home, rest, ice, compression, elevation. Make sure you can still move your toes and foot (even though it hurts). Watch for any grinding sensation and/or tingling in the foot. Grinding would indicate a break, tingling is more lack of blood circulation. A Dr is only going to cost you money and do nothing, other than tell you exactly what we have :) hope it feels better soon! Avoid heat on it for minuimum 12hrs, even though it may feel nice it will only make the swelling worse

Thanks for all the advice ladies! Been a couple days now and I am doing much better. No longer walking with a limp! :)
