Hi
I posted this over in the Miscarriage support Forum and forgot to post it here!......................

Well got my results from St. Marys RMC. I had a phone consultation with the doctor but I found it very hard to hear him. He said I have abnormal TEG, so my next pregnancy to start 150mg aspirin. Some of my results are not back yet and he was going to phone me back next week. So I have booked my flight and going back to london to discuss the results next week because now i have lots of questions!

This treatment differs from my local hospital. MY RMC results here in Belfast showed anticardiolipin being slightly elevated so their treatment is 75mg aspirin and 5mg of folic acid starting now and once i get my BFP herparin injections.

So who is right? What do you think?

Hey Pat!
The problem with any thrombophilic diagnosis is that even the scientists themselves are not in agreement. Some believe that these conditions are responsible for a variet of unsucessful pregnancies and hence recommend aggressive traetments like heparin shots while others are unconvinced and as a precaution recomend high doses folic acid and aspirin. it really comes down to finding a specialist you trust and click with and go with his advice.
There are no guarentees and so i suppose what you decide is a kinda leap of faith!

Interesting. I found out I have MTHFR after my MC, and my specialist recommended 81mg aspirin and 5 MG folic acid daily. He said he thinks that should be plenty to get me through a pregnancy just fine, but they will be doing monthly ultrasounds to check for clotting in the placenta. If there is any sign of clotting at an ultrasound, they will start me on Lovenox injections.

I wasn't given a specific diagnosis just that I have a clotting disorder in pregnancy. Was told as soon as I get a positive test to start taking 75mg aspirin daily - because i'm TTC and diabetic I'm in 5mg folic acid anyway and will be on that the whole way through the pregnancy. He did say that would maybe be moved onto a low molecular weight heparin later in pregnancy but due to the potential for problems with loss of bone density for the mother he wouldn't choose to put me on the heparin for the extended period. I'm not sure what I think either!!!! Wish I could give you a definite answer!
