Starting Temping

I did buy a BBT and was considering charting a few months ago but I found that I can't trust myself to ensure I chart at the correct time. I'm up at anytime between 6am and 8am in the mornings depending on work and if I have meetings or not and then I like the occasional lie-in on the weekend so I just don't think I'd get reliable readings!

I HATED temping at first, thought it was a real pain. But I really wanted to make sure I was ovulating so stuck with it. I would recommend you set your alarm for 6am every morning, for the days you dont need to be up at that time just temp, write the number down then go back to sleep. I am usually half asleep when Im doing it!! same for the weekend days. If you have a few days that you miss just temp and in FF you can say the time you did it. Its worth it!!

Hi -

I did a 7 day Clear Blue kit the last couple of months and nothing. It was so discouraging. I did a 20 day one this month and got a positive reading on cd 19.... so I'd suggest the 20 day kit.... good price on Amazon!

I agree taylorxx, Ive just started temping and LOVE that it shows me when Ive ovulated from a clear shift in temps...Im 38 and was worrying if I was ovulating (just because you have an LH surge doesnt mean you actually ovulate) and my chart shows I clearly am. Its very accurate as I get a temp shift after my positive ovulation test. I also like that it 'warns' me my period is coming with a drop in temp the day before. Ive also been able to figure out I have a 14LP from my chart. Many women cannot use other signs, I get creamy cm all through my cycle. So I also feel people should not say temping is unreliable just from online articles.

Yep, exactly. I don't think the article was wrong persay.. it just worded things weird. It said it's not a reliable way to predict ovulation. I think most women use OPKs and just write that off as ovulation when that's not always the case, you know? I think everyone should chart their temperture. Just to confirm everything and get to know how your cycles work. It's really not that big of a hassle like some women make it out to be. I think it's more stressful not knowing what's going on, then taking a temp every morning... but that's just me haha :winkwink:. After a week or two you get used to it. When I first started temping I actually got EXCITED before I went to bed lol. Maybe I'm just a big loser :haha:

ETA: Your chart is looking really good!! Hopefully it's your month! :dust: :dust:
