Stickle Bricks or Duplo?

Serious question time ladies....
its Tommys first birthday coming up and i'm stuck as to whether to get him stickle bricks or duplo blocks - so i've decided to ask for your help!
Heres pictures of each for those who dont know:

Stickle bricks are blocks made of sticks (not sharp obviously) and they stick together really easily in all different ways...

Duplo blocks are basically giant lego blocks, so they have 4/6/8 little notches that slot into another block to build on.....

Being a reception class teacher I'm in daily contact with both and I'd say stickle bricks would be more manageable for a baby.

I think you can be more creative with stickle bricks as there are more ways to stick them together, iyswim? x

Chloe has a box of the new design stickle bricks, not same as in the pic but similar, I think they are pretty pants TBH they dont 'stick' very well. She has the jumbo duplo that comes in a big bag from Tesco and they are much better x

ETA unless you can get the older style stickle bricks still?

Personally, I'd go for megablocks. I'm gonna get Isaac those for his birthday.

Although between stickle bricks and duplo I'd deffo go for stickle bricks! They're so fun! =]

Not sure if you can still get them, but duplo primo is good for little hands

Yep - megablocks, Harry had them when he was almost 2 and he could manage them.
I did get him stickle bricks but her never got on with them, strange!
He is a lego boy now.

Duplo definately, we had it when we were younger, and had a farm too.
We did have stickle bricks, but never played with them, and when we did it always ended in tears after we trod on them. xx

Stickle Bricks are an EXCELLENT sensory toy for LOs!!

I like the idea of Duplo, but would rather hold out for actual Legos (when I know he won't be trying to eat them, hehe).

Loved my stickle bricks when I was little! Don't think you can get them here in Australia though. Might have to do some ebaying!

I'd say for around 1 at Christmas (same as Matthew) go for Mega Bloks. I've got Matthew Mega Bloks in a giant box I loved them as a child and played with them for years and hated running out when building stuff!! So got Matthew a box of 120 bloks

The following christmas I'll probably go for lego then!

I'd say megablocks too, but between Duplo or Stickle Bricks, I'd go for Stickle Bricks

I think Evie might be a bit freaked out by the texture of them initially tho, she can be a quite strange when it comes to new textures Still, it wont stop me from getting her some for her birthday
