I had my emcs just over 5 weeks ago, it was traumatic and my little girl was born 2 months early due to pre-eclampsia. It was scary time but thankfully we came through it and our little princess came home last week after 4 weeks in neonatal.

My healing has been fairly slow due to the fact I spent everyday visiting the hospital which is 15 miles away to be with my daughter and not resting as you should be after a section but it seemed to all be ticking along in the right direction.

I'm a little sore around the scar area but nothing that I wouldn't expect, blood though is confusing me :-(

For around 3 weeks normal blood loss, then it started to go brown and actually disappeared for a day or two. After that I had some brown spotting, some pink and I put that down to doing more than usual. Then this week, the brown spotting turned into red again and I'm wondering if this is AF or am I still bleeding, in which case it doesn't seem normal to go from nothing back to red - does it?

Any advice gratefully received!

After my EMCS, my DR told me that you can bleed for anything between up to 6 weeks. I bled for about 4 weeks.

I think our babies are roughly same weeks I had DS via ELC on 18th same as you I was not able to rest as im a single mum and need to take DD to school which I have done since day 3 of my CS my bleeding is irregular slowed at 3 weeks I had a few days of nothing and now im spotting again at week 5 so maybe its still just PP bleeding? my scar is healing well but still sore just below my belly button I was told to give healing until 12 weeks minimum so im not worried just now xx

Thanks Shezza, our babies were born the same day, my daughter also came into the world on the 18th sept.

I still have a sore belly under my belly button area too, slightly numb but nothing untoward other than that. Perhaps the bleeding is just that, doing too much too soon. I've always been a bit like that anyway, it's just hard to sit down when you have so much to do! I have 3 other children also, so I know what it must be like for you.

It's not really heavy bleeding and I'm sure if something was 'wrong' it would be heavy and painful, so perhaps it is just pp bleeding. Fingers crossed it stops soon!

i had that with my last one while the heaviest of the bleeding was done by about 3 wks its was light till after 6weeks changing colour pink, orange, brown. i cant exactly recall whether it coincided with me over doing it but i think it did.

I bled for between 9 and 12 weeks with all 4 my children (all c-sects). Dr said I'm one of the unlucky women whose uterus's just take their time shrinking back.

The bleeding would be red, brown, pink and would stop and start, be heavy then light then heavy again. No pattern, until the last few weeks that it starts to clear up finally.

I'm now 3 months after my last section, and I still experience pain. Also normal, since I have a slight reaction towards the internal stitches, and they take 3-4 months to completely dissolve.

Good luck!
