still contagious?

I have arranged to see my best friend monday. We have not met up for a few weeks.her one year old started vomiting early hours friday morning. she vomited 15-20 times up until 3am saturday, then this morning (9am saturday uk time) she said her nappies were runny but she had stopped being sick.

being 6 and abit months pregnant i am not wanting to catch a nasty tummy bug. I hate being sick i get in a state! I sent a text saying i did not know whether i should be cautious monday because of my baby. She said im sure shel be fine monday but shel let me know if shes not.

i know she will be over the bug monday. Im sure tomorrow (sunday she will be) but is she still going to be contagious? I dont want to let my friend down but i dont want a nasty bug.

It's supposed to be 48 hours from last diarrhoea or vomit. Personally I wouldn't risk it, can you meet up another day?

Yeah she has now got it aswel as her oh and mil so im staying clear lol x

No fun! I was going to say don't risk it either... I've googled and even asked my doc how long those bugs are contagious for- but there is no real black/white answer (being there are so many types of bugs that cause the same symptoms). Obviously if they are symptomatic stay clear. But even after they are better- it can still be passed for a good week or so (for sure). We caught it once last year- made it's rounds through our house- then MIL (who watched LO early the next week)- got it almost a week later! We felt horrible... I think a week is the best rule (just in case). And washing hands etc...

I caught it once from a friend- 2 days after she was Ok. We were even cautious just in case, but I still got sick later that same day I saw her (later evening).
