I've been going to the gym for 8 months now, 4 months shy of a bloody year and I've lost...wait for it....

2lb.

I just don't get it. This is the longest time I've ever stuck at trying to lose weight and nothing is happening.

What's your diet like?
you need approx 3500 cal deficit to lose a pound of fat.
That's an awful lot of exercise in a week!

I've calculated what to eat through a TDEE calculator (scooby's workshop to be precise). This includes exercise whereas myfitnesspal doesn't, you add that later.

That told me to eat around 1900 calories a day with my current excerise to lose 1lb a week. Seems like a lot but I am overweight so my BMR is higher than what it would be if I was normal weight.

Even myfitnesspal gives the same calories (well it tells me 1450 WITHOUT exercise, I roughly burn 500 a time 5 times a week so 1450+500=1950).

I weight train 3 times a week for 30 minutes followed by 30 minutes HIIT training. 2 times a week I do steady state cardio at home for an hour.

Ive even tried eating less than 1950 and that didn't work either. I'm really stumped.

I would guess that you are over estimating the calories you are burning in the gym, a lot of machines and online exercise calculators are renowned for being inaccurate. I too understand that muscle is more dense than fat and exercise leads to more water and glycogen storage but still only 2 pounds in 8 months? The calculations must be wrong somewhere. Are you measuring your food? Eating clean? Even calorie controlled ready meals are crammed with salt which means water retention. If I were you I would cut my calories to around 1700 a day, try to up your protein to curb any hunger, drink lots of water and cut out any processed food, lots of good green leafy vegetables! Give it a few weeks and hopefully you will get results!

I use a heart rate monitor, the machines at the gym are way off what my HRM tells me.

I weigh everything, I use MFP to track calories, I drink 4.5 litres of water every day. I don't eat processed crap, everything I make is from scratch. I eat 100g of protein a day.

I was eating 1700 a day and nothing happened, since I upped to 2000 the pounds are slowly starting to drop. I certainly don't under estimate calories, everything I make I've worked out the calories (plus all the other nutrients, my notebook is full of it) and I weigh every single thing. I just think I wasn't eating enough for fuel my workouts. Eating low did nothing but since upping a bit its changed.
