hi all,me and dh have now been ttc for 15 months.my doctor refered me on after i had my blood tests and dh had sa.they refered me on 24th march and ive still heard nothing,i asked doctor and her response was " well theres 1000s of women in ur situation and its not high on the priority list for budget on nhs" its left me very dispondent.i was wondering how long it took for u to get a response after ur 12 month mark?

There is a long waiting list to see a FS in East Sussex, including Brighton. I was referred beginning of November and didn't get an appointment until 10 february.

The best thing to do is called the outpatient appointment and ask when you might get an appointment.

ahhh thank you so much,i thought id just been forgotten about, they did give me the number so ill give it a call

Im in Surrey, we got referred by our GP in November and saw the FS at the end of February. My follow up FS appointment wasn't due until November (!!), but they told me to keep ringing to see if I could get an earlier appointment once I'd had all the necessay tests (eg scan and HSG). I had those tests in April and then started ringing in for cancellations. On my 2nd day I got a cancellation for the next day. We are now on the NHS IVF waiting list, 5 months earlier than I would have been if I hadn't been calling up for a cancellation.

I really recommend phoning as it really helped speed everything up for us.

Good luck with you appointments:hugs:

thank so much springflower.i havent even got as far as the first appointment yet so i will definitely get ringing them

If you have the money, I know a few girls in your area have gone private and found it really quick and not as expensive as they would have thought. x

ive just been made redundant :( so unfortunately its gonna have to be nhs all the way

just an update for u,just rang fs and it turns out that my names on the system but BICS has not actually sent my letter to them.I got a nice man on the phone though who said normally i would have to start all over again but he said just get my doc to fax him the letter and he'll speed things up for me....my doctors has shut for the afternoon :-(

Do you know where they were referring you to? If you do, call the clinic to confirm that they have received the referral. If they haven't, ring your doc and say they've not got it. If they have, just ask if they have any idea how long it will be for your first appt.

When we got referred i made a point of ringing the clinic and low and behold my letter for an appointment came through that week although the appointment was 3 months later. I waited a week then rang up the clinic and asked if they had any cancellations - i was smiley and chatty on the phone and they called me back with an appointment 3 weeks later - so happy harassment does work :wohoo:
