hiii well 3 and bit weeks ago i had my baby after i dialated to 10cm i gave birth within 45mins and baby come out all at once so i got second degree tears inside and out.

i was stitched up ans all was fine i was told they would disolve but theres been a problem.... i had a hot shower last night and i dident touch down there as i knew i was still sensitive .... but once i got out i was getting sharp pains one side down there where i had stitches i got into my room and asked my OH to look down there to see if he could see anything and see if there was any blood or if id come open where mt stitched where..

he said he could see a long stitch half of it inside me under my skin and the other half was hanging out like a long peice of string i was in agony the long bit of stictch that was hanging out he cut in half so i wouldent keep catching it in my bum cheeks ( sorry tmi) and it seems to have stipped it stinging but im still really sore.

im trying to get an emergency appointment with my doctor this afternoon but im super scared :( i dnt wanna have to go back up the hospital to be restitched ....

i was just wondering if anyone has expirenced something like this is this normal ??xxxxx

I had something similar happen with one of my stitches, I had one internal and it started to hurt like nothing else. I went back to the hospital to be checked where she cut it for me. She said that it was normal, where I'd begun to heal the stitch was being pulled and that's what causes the pain.
I didn't get re-stitched as she said my body would do the rest.

From my reading it seems to happen to a lot of women that one of the stitches breaks or is cut. Mine took quite a while to dissolve too.
Don't be scared, stitches seem to cause a disproportionate amount of pain. Chances are you've healed quite a long way and don't need the stitches any more. Fingers crossed :)

thankyou hun :) this helps alot how long after u had baby did it happen to u ?? xxx

I had 2nd degree episiotomy and my stitches disolved before i had healed so i was left with a gaping bit but they wouldnt restitch incase of infection so i wouldnt worry too much it does heal naturally

thankyou ladies i just got an appointment with a lady doctor at 5.30 im so scared as it isent my normal doctor and i onli really trust her down there tbh now im tears in seeing a stranger and i was told i cant pic what doc i have if its an emergency :( x

Ouch hun doesnt spund nice :(

With teejay i had a first degree tear n had just the 1 stitch dow the bottom. Maybe after 5 days i think it was, the fone went so i stood up, but a lil too quickly n felt a 'pop' i had actually snapped the stitching. I saw a MW the next day n she had a look n said it was fine. It was actually a relief when it popped lol it was feelin too tight.

But neway im sure ull be fine too, after 3 weeks u shud have healed nicely so shudnt need re-stitching :) xx

I had an episiotomy and the stitches fell out afterwards, I'm not exactly sure how long probably about 8-10 days afterwards. A midwife had a look at home as she was still visiting LO and said it looked OK and it wasn't any more painful than it had been before so I definitely didn't need restitching. Good luck for your appointment, hope its all ok x

I have been getting sharp pains from the stitches but just thought it meant they were healing nicely. I ended up with an episiotomy, forceps and a 3rd/4th degree tear. Can't wait until they finally dissolve. My OH had a look down there for me and said everything looked OK and I even got the courage to look myself with the aid of a mirror. I'm back to see the consultant in a few weeks to see if I need physio for muscle damage so will get her to check then. x
