So, I went in to labour at 34+6 and after 7 hours of strong contractions every 4 minutes, a positive fibronectin tests and midwives and consultants saying that baby wouldn't be long everything stopped.
Now I'm 37+3... I have an hour where my contractions get strong and regular, or a couple of hours where I have waves of painful cramps and a lot of low down pressure...but the it all stops! I had a "clear out" of my bowls today (sorry tmi) and I think "this is it" and then nope, nothing! Is this stop/starting confusingness normal?! I feel like I'm in a permanent state of limbo! Xx

Stalking same happening to me for the past week!!

It's quite common especially for 2nd+ time moms. This has been happening to me for 2 weeks now. I was in labor & delivery the other day again after having strong, consistent contractions for 7+hours only for them to die down, me not progress, and them sending me home. Very frustrating!

Grrr! Not really what I wanted to hear but thank you! How lot is "quite a while"?! Couple of weeks or could I still be going to 42?! Xxx

Yep, I have had this on and off. And its driving me insane!!!! Sorry you're going through this, but you aren't alone!

Honestly it can pick up and you can have this baby tomorrow or it can last until close to 42 weeks. It's hard to say and every pregnancy is different. That's what's so tough about this drawn out labor.

Thanks/not thanks greats! I think I've got to the point where I no longer think it's gonna happen any minute to thinking "it's never happening"!!! Just wanna meet my baby boy now!!!! I've spent 2 and a half weeks distracting myself and getting stuff sorted and now I have no idea what to do, my 2yo is constantly asking if baby is out yet!!!

I'm going through it too, I lose my plug start having regular contractions think yes this is it.....nope no where near! Again last night up all night having back ache, period cramps inbetween regular contractions but by 4am it had died down! I just think unless I'm crying in pain with the contractions that it isn't real labour and to ignore as best you can xxx

Well I'm sorry you're all miserable too but at least I'm not alone. Cos ds1 came at 30 I feel like I've been willing this one to stay in for so long.....and all of a sudden I'm too excited to meet him xx

Ha, I'm joining your club! I'm in the same sad boat... thought labor had kicked off at 37 weeks, so did all the medical staff to the point where I was 3-4cms and 70% effaced, contracting every 2-3mins on the monitor for hours, the birthing pool was set up, iv fitted, paperwork signed - and then it all just went away!

Since then I've had several bloody shows, contractions most days and nights (although while they are enough I often can't sleep through them, not strong enough to send me back to the hospital!) and generally just waiting with baited breath! I'm ignoring it all now, too depressing otherwise haha. I figured when it happens I will know and until then I might as well just rest!

Well today I've had on and off cramps. Quite bad. A few strong tightenings, but sooooo much oelvic pressure it's made my news buckle a couple of times....I can only assume that when labour decides to start this baby is gonna be here in record quick time.... My dad is convinced is Sunday! No idea why but he has a strange knack at being right with these things!!!

Question... If these tightening have been on and off for weeks, will they very gradually get more regular, or could I just start this afternoon for example?! Xx

You could just start, generally if you've been having tightenings for weeks then if and when things get started you'll.notice the difference and all of a sudden you'll be like yup I'm in labour owwwwwww! Lol xx
