Just wondering how is best to store nappies between children? I am worried that I will get them out in a couple of years to find they are no longer any good for some reason....

Or am I better off selling and rebuying if/when we have more children...

Cheers x

I would give them a bloody good strip wash to make sure there's not a trace of detergent or bacteria or anything in there that could degrade the elastic or PUL over time, then probably put them in those bags you suck all the air out of to make sure they're airtight and store them somewhere cool and dark. I think they should be fine like that, they're only clothes at the end of the day.

It is more fun to buy more though!

I only had a month nappy free (Emma was toilet trained a month before Jack was born!) but agree with Rachel. A damn good strip, make sure they are bone dry, and then store them in an airtight bag. It'll keep them clean and moth free too (if they're natural fibres...moths don't go for microfibre or anything like that). When you're ready to use them again, just give them a freshen up in the machine if you think they need it.

I would basically store them in the same way as my yarn or handknit items.

They should be fine if you make sure and wash them and rinse them well (probably with vinegar, as that strips out everything) and just store then in a tote or air bag. They really should be fine. As with anything elastic though (if yours have elastic in the back) if it's years and years and years (5+ years) between children you should test the elastic. I would say give it a few years (2-3) and if you're still not wanting any more kids, I might sell them and just buy more when you DO decide to have more. HIH!!
