Storing Expressed BM - Can you use Ziploc Freezer Bags?

They're WAY cheaper than the Medela or Lansinoh. Does anyone use them? Or know of any reason NOT to? Thanks!

are they sterile? I buy my bags from tesco or boots. Much cheaper than medela ones. are you able to get them from your supermarket cheaper?

Will check if they are sterile, I'm not sure. Have tried to buy breast milk bags everywhere but they are all so expensive!

ziploc bags are not sterile AFAIK, and according to this yahoo answer from an NICU nurse they can tend to split upon thawing

Yeah we do, although I have never noticed them there. The cheapest I've seen is $9.99 for 25 Lansinoh at London Drugs.

I buy 50 Nuk storage bags for $15 at Shoppers Drug Mart. They seem to do the trick

I often used to freeze ebm in a sterilised ice-cube tray, (1oz ice cubes) - which I then stored in a ziplock bag with no problem. I never poured the milk straight into the bag though.

Success! I found 50 Nuk bags at Walmart in Calgary for $12.97!!
