'Stringy' discharge at 36 weeks? (sorry TMI!) Mucus plug?

Hi,

Sorry for the detail here but I would like some opinions/previous experiences!
For the past couple of days I've been feeling super lethargic and a bit nauseous, Ive also been having diarrhoea. I've had period like cramps too and backache, and this morning I noticed my discharge was very thick, actually stringy and a yellowy green colour, although there wasn't much of it. There was no blood in it though so not sure if it was the mucus plug?

With DD1 I didn't notice the plug, and my waters didn't break in the way you would expect (they broke 2 or 3 days before anything else happened so were just a slow trickle which I assumed was my bladder giving up on me!) so I don't really have anything to go on from the first time around. The first I knew about labour starting was Meconium then contractions.

This stringy discharge was incredibly thick (I could have rolled it into a ball - sorry TMI!) Like sticky thick snot.

What is the mucus plug like? Should I call the MW?

Yep, sounds like your plug to me. Mine went at the weekend and was exactly the same - a couple of toilets trips it was like thick greeny yellow snot and a few hours later I had a big glob of pale creamy jelly like stuff. No blood in there, if anything just a very faint pinky tinge on the toilet paper the one time.
Had a MW appointment today and I asked her if the plug has to be bloody and she said no, it can be just as you have described it.

Thanks for the reply. I saw my MW today (didn't mention the plug actually!) but she felt and said baby is in the middle and the head is in my pelvis. Also the heart rate has dropped slightly which is normal when they are preparing for the outside world - eeeeek!

Looks like this might be an early baby after all. I can't say I noticed anymore stringy stuff after that first bit so Im still not sure Im just feeling excited now that she might be on her way!!

quick update, no more stringy snotty stuff and no baby as yet!

Ive lost mine yesterday and no blood just snotty like consistency which filled the tissue and some in toilet. My waters broke a few days ago too, just waitin game for me now in hospital xxx

I lost my plug last week nothing yet wasn't pink or bloody just cream/greeny colour x

I think I lost mine too yesterday, again just a big jelly greeny yellowy lump. Pretty gross but there was such a mass of it!! No blood in it though. I've been having cramps all week and today have the most almighty back ache... I'm hoping this is things moving along as I'm so so sick of being pregnant now!!

I know the feeling, Im now desperate to reclaim my body! lol. I think my plug must be going in bits, as I havnt had any more since that 1 bit, and it was a huge amount like a lot of ladies describe so who knows. Maybe I just havnt noticed.
I just want this baby OUT NOW! grrrr.
