Hi everyone! I'm new here, and trying to get the hang of things. My husband and I have been ttc for a while, but just very recently began charting, to see where we were going wrong. Not sure which chart to believe, but I am leaning more toward the one that says I have a 9 day LP, because my other fertility signs were matching up better that cycle. But the previous cycle had me as having a 4 day LP. Each I know are horribly bad, so I belive this is where we were going wrong. I got pregnant for the first time last May, but unfortunatly ended in a mmc in Aug. I'm starting to wonder if it would be because of this LPD. I know its unlikely to make it to 8 weeks with a LPD, but I was thinking it may have been a progesterone problem, since progesterone deficiency can also cause a LPD. Like, the egg had barely enough time to implant, but managed to, but the progesterone wasn't enough to sustain the pregnancy? Anywho, I am looking into taking some vitamin B6 this cycle, and was curious if anyone had any success stories, or no luck at all with this. I was thinking of getting Progesterone cream, but I don't know for sure if I have a progesterone problem. I DO know I have a LPD. Also, if the LPD is due to low progesterone, will the B6 correct that, or just lengthen the LP and the progesterone will remain the same? I guess I'm just not sure which to try, and I suppose I'm kinda skeptical with each. I would greatly appreciate any help :) TIA

I don't have an answer for you, but I think my LP is too short as well and I'm hoping that someone will see this and answer...so BUMP!

Sorry to hear you may have the same problem.. What makes you think yours is short too? Do you chart as well? It really stinks having a short LP. You start out being skeptical that anything will work, especially something as simple as B6, then you hear success stories from women that say it works wonders, and you get excited.. Then, you hear other stories saying it did nothing, and the worst one I seen so far, is a woman saying that it actually had the opposite affect on her, making her LP even shorter!! Then, you don't know what to believe. I would go to my doctor, but I'm currently having problems with my insurance.. looong story. Anywho, it stinks, and I wish you the best of luck. Anyone with info, or personal experience with this, please let us know, good or bad. Thanks again!!

Could you request a blood test from your Dr in the middle of ur LP? Generally at 3 or 7 dpo they can determine your level of progesterone and if they are low they will see fit to give you progesterone supplement. Most ladies that have this problem are on prog supp and this has elongated their luteal phase. GL!

Hello Ladies..

I thought I might share my story to perhaps give you some help!

I had a 8 day LP which I diagnosed as being too short and was probably the reason why I couldn't conceive - and the one time I did ended up in miscarriage..

So I like you - came to this site for ideas on how to improve it myself. I took B6 and also used the progesterone cream for over 3 months but saw no improvement in my LP - which was depressing - because as you stated it does work for many people - but unfortunately not for me!!

I am based in the UK - so I ended up have to see a private fertility consultant who would prescribe me progesterone suppositories on a private prescription..

Well to cut a story short - I fell pregnant the 1st month of taking them - came off them at 2 weeks after but started to bleed - so put back on until 12 weeks ....

So I think you just have to explore what route works with your body and try the B6 and see what happens - but if like me you might need the proper progesterone prescribed.

Hope this helps you...

Thank you for the replies, ladies. They were very helpful and informative. I really hope the b6 does work for me, because I don't think I can really afford the private fertility consultant, though I may be able to soon, if my husband's business picks back up a little this summer. The economy is so tough these days :( I began taking 50mg of b6, but I think I want to increase it to 100mg. But with the b6, would I want to take it with progesterone cream for the best results? I'm not sure if I have a progesterone problem, so I think it would be smart just in case, because I don't want to lenghten my LP and conceive, then m/c due to a progesterone deficiency. It doesn't hurt to take it if you don't need it, does it? And if I got to the LP I wanted, can I stop, or will stopping them make the LP decrease again? Greengerbera, how many mg were you taking of the b6, and where did you get the progesterone cream? I think I may also go in for the bloods, and see if they can tell where my problem lays. Ughh, I just don't even know where to start.. it's so frusterating!!! I'm almost positive its a problem with progesterone. I think that would be the reason also why I only managed to get pregnant one time, and miscarried. Anyways, thanks again for the help ladies. Oh, and Greengerbera.. Congrats!! What are you having?

Hey.. I took b100 complex to help with my LP.. My FS said I wasn't ovulating every month as my progesterone was low... This was my first month taking the b complex along with soy... ..& I got my bfp after ttc for 15 months xx

Thanks for that info, it gives me hope! What is the soy for? I haven't heard that one yet. What was your LP at before you began the vitamins? And congrats on your :bfp:!!

It ranged from 9 to 12..days.. Soya Isoflavones it is used like clomid.. There is a thread, soy Isoflavones, natures clomid .. if you want to search it as Im no expert so wouldn't like to recommend taking it.. its just what worked for me..

Good luck xx

My LP ranged from 9-11 days. I tried vitamins B, and it did nothing. It turned out that my progesterone was very low. My doctor prescribed me progesterone suppositories and my luteal phase went up to 15 days. I'm still not pregnant, but we have other issues besides low progesterone. Progesterone cream might not be strong enough.

Thanks for your reply :) I'm trying it. Just got back from picking up my B 100 complex. So I suppose I will try that, along with my prenatal, and see what happens at the end of this cycle. My cycle first month charting gave me a LP of 4 days, and this last cycle, 9. I'm not sure of what I could have done for it to jump so drastically in one month. I heard your LP is suppose to stay the same plus or minus a day. If I could just get it up to 10 or 11, I think I would even be happy with that. But I'm sure once I get it there, I will want even better. I'm never satisfied lol Anyone know what can cause your LP to just drop? My cycles use to be longer, about 28 days (shortest) 31 days (longest) Average, 29. Now all of a sudden dropped to 26-27, so I'm guessing that the 2-5 days I've lost, was taken out of my LP  This is so confusing!! Anyways, I hope you get your BFP soon! Sending lots of baby dust your way!! xxx
