Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of baby thrush?!

My little girl had it on her tongue, was prescribed Nystatin which made it worse as it then spread to her gums and lips and now it's all over her bum.

The doctor has now given Fluconazole for her mouth but nothing for her bum she just said to keep using Metanium cream.

Can ANYONE tell me when this will go or is it going to get worse before the doc gives me something effective?

Any natural remedies?

She is 3 months next week x

Coconut oil!!

Lots of good info in this trend.

My daughter has oral thrush too and the doc prescribed nystatin , it didn't make a difference at all, Ive been to the docs about 5 times with it now and they've just prescribed daktarin oral gel, to rub on her tongue and my nipples as I'm bf, it is clearing it up now, are you breast feeding ? If so you'll need to be treated too, if the stuff your using isn't working ask for daktarin, hope it clears soon x

Exactly what I was going to say!! Coconut oil works miracles!

Sorry, can't help with her mouth, but my doc prescribed DD with some 1% canesten cream for her foof when she had thrush. She also said to give her loads of bum free time and at every nappy change smother her in a thick layer of a really simple barrier cream like Vaseline

Hope she gets better soon ! Xx

Definitely coconut oil as it's anti-fungal :) You put it on her bum and even put some in her mouth although it won't taste that good :haha: You could also try getting probiotic tablets (such as acidophilus), crushing it up, and mixing it with either a bit of breastmilk or a bit of water to make a paste and then applying it to her tongue. I did this for my LO when we had thrush and it went away within a day :)

Google grapefruit seed extract as used for oral thrush (yeast)... it's all natural, tasteless, and works SO well! My DD#2 had horrid thrush on her tongue, lips and inside of her cheeks. I used a q-tip dipped in the mixture and swabbed the white areas. Just make sure to follow directions for how to dilute it or it'll be too strong.

I hope your LO gets some relief soon :)

Thanks everyone!

Will definitely try coconut oil, can't believe I didn't think of that as I use it for loads of stuff with her! :)

You could look into apple cider vinegar too. I know garlic is very effective but I'm not sure you could use it with a 3 month old.
