but i was wondering the same thing ;-)

I am pregnant :dohh: and hopefully going into second year of a nursing degree... because of the way my pregnancy has fell, I have really only been on placement while pregnant... which is hard work. But that is kind of unique to nursing I suppose.
In class, the difficult thing was the toilet/sickness problem... there where a few times where I had to make a sharp excit from a lecture theature...

but would be interested to see what people say about having a child and going to uni...
I am lucky I get a year of, because I have to be signed of on all classes, I have to go back a year after I leave... so bubs will be 9 months, if I take from september (because of the problems, this looks likely) or october, 11 months when I go back...

thats a scary thought

i will be doing a photography course and the uni i am going to (in september) i have researched and are very good with given pregnant students help , they had great childcare plans and things

i am trying for a baby ( i recently had a miscarage at 6 months and it broke my heart) so decided that i would try i would be a good mum

i just wasnt sure weither to take a year off before starting or just go ahead
i have an amazing OH and family so i would be able to cope
but have been reading some stories about students with babys and they were horride and it freked me out lol

sorry for teh rant lol i was just woundering if others had stories about their experiances that would put my mind at rest

i know a lot of people would advise me otherwise about having a baby young but i think 19/20 is a very ok age

Emandbub - i knew i wasnt the only 1 lol
Eabha's mum - thank for you reply ^_^

You're not trust me :-)
& call me Em :winkwink:

i was wondering, do most uni's have a creche?
xxx

most have a daycare near by
im going to sunderland uni and they have a daycare right next to teh uni thatis for students babies and they take the babies from age 3 months to 6 an they are open from 8 till 9 at night which is really flexible ^_^

which uni were u planning on going to ?
and im sure when you go for the open day u can ask abotu childcare and they will tell you all the plans and details that can be aranged for you

most uni's in the uk are really good with helping young mums

i have a really good friend who had her lil girl when she was 4 months into her course they gave her as much time afta the birth as she needed and sent her the work online so she did fall behind.

xx

that's very flexible! :-D
i'm applying next year but i've been looking at Roehampton
but now i'm pregnant i wanted something closer to home!
LO will be about 3 months when i start my last year of HS
so around 1 when i start UNI and i'm going to take all the help i can get

I'm not at uni yet but i am at college, i go back in august and i'll be having bubs in november, there is a nursery on site at the college (but it gets full quite quickly but i have already applied :) ) the youngest that they will take a baby from is 6 weeks so providing i go before or just after my due date then because of when christmas holidays are i'll be able to go back to college in the january ... i know its going to be hard keeping up with all the work while im off... i'm doing the IB diploma and there is ALOT of work ... but the lecturers are all really supportive of me and are helping me out as much as they can which is brilliant :)

not much advice there really but just thought i'd share my experience hehe

when you start looking at unis if you pop in and start to one one the staff at student servises they can give you this pack that is filled with info and financial help you can get while you study

the way i look at it is having a baby will make me work harder so that i can provide an really good future for the lil babe ^_^

nursing attracts lots of mature students, so there is a lot of understanding for pregnancy and children, but the nature of the course dictates a year, but it is paid maternity leave, so happy days!!

xx

i was going of track before i found out i was pregnant
but then it made me want to work because i needed to know i could provide the best life possible for my little girl
the way i see it, is if i hadn't gotten pregnant, i would have dropped out and not even bothered to look at unis

i've looked at doing nursing but i think i'd prefer midwifery hehe, pregnancy has always fascinated me so i think i'm going to look into doing that hehe ... better get my skates on actually, i have to apply in october :O

i would love to do midwifery but i don't think i could handle all the hormones flying around!
i'm more in to primary education :-)

i think weither you go to uni or work - it depend on the person and what they feel best but either is good i mean you have to do wats best the the lil baba's right ^_^

awh yeah... same, but you can do a 18 month conversion course, and be dual qualified..
but i think i am either gona end up in cardiology (love the buzz and the heart... sooooo interesting) or A&E (what can i say... buzz buzz buzz) seeing a pattern? :haha: i am a thrill seeker! xx

 guess you don't mind blood then?
i'm going to go back to school once babe is 3-4 months old and i'm dreading it already!
thinking of taking a gap year in between high school and uni though
xx

i think being a midwife would be cool coz being a young mum you would be able to helo other young mums an give the person advise and they might be able to relate better to you since you have been in their shoes

but personaly i have always loved photography so i will be studing that
