I'm 16 weeks pregnant and I'm experiencing lots of stuffiness in my nose. Is this normal or is it just allergies?

It's normal. I don't have any of those kinds of allergies (hayfever etc) and I always have a stuffed-up nose now, and whenever I blow my nose, it bleeds. It's something to do with the massively increased progesterone, and your increased blood volume. Your nose has a really good blood supply, so with all the extra blood and fluid in your body, it feels congested so much easier. I don't suppose hayfever will help if you have that too :/

Its normal dear, I had it since 6 weeks until now, I'm 21 weeks. My gyn decided not to give me anything anymore. Hugs

I've been waking up every morning in the last week with stuffy nose and a phlegmmy throat, keep coughing mucus up ergh

As lilbean2 said! For a good month I have coughed up phlegm and have to blow my nose a lot upon waking. Just another joy hun :flower:

I've had this for awhile, I also get the bloody nose too. I find drinking a ton of water helps. It's all I really drink, other than a vitiamin water here and there to spice it up. I've heard pop and sugary drinks make it worse? Anywho, drinking water helps me.

It's probably rhinitis, quite common in pregnancy. I had it last time, drove me mad. I didn't find anything helped.

I've had a stuffy nose for so long that it almost seems normal. Stuffy nose and dry coughs all day every day. I'm not sure if drinking lots of water actually helps me or if I've just convinced myself that it does. I hope it goes away soon, along with the pressure of swollen sinuses, but I don't think it's going anywhere.

I had a stuffy nose my entire pregnancy with DD... and again with this one. I think it's pretty common. I also get a little bit of a bloody nose at times.

I have never, ever had allergies and suddenly now, in my third trimester, I'm in misery with itchy eyes, a runny nose or stuffy nose and itching all over. UGH!

The stuffy nose thing is totally normal, I wake up in the morning not able to breath through my nose and blow out massive bloody boogers, gross.

I also have seasonal allergies, but had to quit taking zyrtec for it, as it increases blood pressure and I have high blood pressure. But to be honest, I'm not having allergy problems. Weird.

Ill join in and say YEP totally normal! I have had a stuffy nose with a bit of blood with my boogers which is worse when i wake up then it is through the day. I also do not suffer any allergies or hay fever and because I have been like this since about 6 weeks, I know it's not a cold. I also get the stuffy ear thing in the mornings too- i have trouble hearing for half an hour or so after I get out of bed.
Oh the joys! haha

I'm suffering with this. It's horrible. I don't know how I'm going to deal with it for another six months :( xxxx

I thought it was just me!! Nice to know it's a common symptom. I got my BFP at the beginning of spring, so when the sneezing and runny nose started, I just assumed it was allergies. But usually my allergies are nowhere near this bad and they don't usually last this long. I wake up every morning and have a sneezing fit. It's like clockwork. I've been going thru boxes of tissues every week! It's crazy!

Recently my phlegm got so bad it started effecting my ears! Joys! Lol
