ok this is going to sound so stupid i feel an idiot asking.....

i make my bottles in advance the boil water cool or half hour pour into sterile bottles with powder cool and fridge method. the issue i have..... is the steam from the water makes the scoop get a bit damp then the powder sticks to it.

i thought id resolved it by putting powder in first but i can never seem to then make up right as when i pour water say to 3 oz by the time i get the bottle out some will be 2 1/2 some almost 3 etc . is there an easy way of working out where to fill water to if you add formula first or a better way of adding it second?

gosh i sound like a right plonker!

I've been wondering the exact same thing. Can't wait for some experts to give us some advice! I've tried dropping it in from a height to avoid the steam but doesn't work! Also, do you wash and sterilise your scoop?

I count the scoops out into a dry container - one of those tommee tippee powder dispensers and then pour into bottle with the water in.
No powder stuck to the scoop and also if you lose count you can just pour it all back into the tub and not waste anything

that seems a good idea i have an advent container i will try that later. i have just been wiping the scoop with kitchen paper as if i steralise it i will need to dry it anyway so defeats the object!

As pp said I use the tommee tippee powder pots, I fill them up in the morn to use through out the day.
Sometimes if I've run out of ready filled pots i take 2 bottles out the steriliser put the powder in one the measure the water out in the other & poor it in, its only had boiling water in so is still sterile then to use as the next bottle!

Ooh I've had the exact same problem! I'm sure most of my bottles contain less than they should because of it sticking to the scoop. Where can I buy a tommee tippee powder dispenser? Sounds like would solve my problem!

the avent on can be bought in bigger tescos and boots. i bought one on a whim, not convinced it would be 'that' useful, only to find we use it all the time!

I got mine from Tesco, but I've seen them in Boots. Most places have them :flower:

we had the same problem when dd was born, so we did two diff ways just depending on what mood we where in:

- fill one bottle with the correct number of scoops and another with the boiled water (correct amount) and then pour the warer into the bottle with the powder in ( only prob is when ur down to last bottle you can count scoops in th boilder water and use a knife and kitchen towel to scrape/cleam scoop)

- make up bottles, put scoops of pouder in a dispenser/container the
pour into water!

xx

I was going to say the exact same thing! ~ I use the bibi tower powder dispenser though x

I just used to scrape the stuck powder out with the knife I used to level it off lol.

You could either put the number of scoops in then add water using a spare bottle, or measure the powder into a seperate container then add that to the water - both easy solutions xx

I allow bottles to either cool in the steriliser or take them out for 10 minutes to cool then put the powder in the empty bottles and using a spare bottle measure the water and pour in and shake or roll depending on your formula type:thumbup:
