I'm about 5 weeks pregnant after two back-to-back MCs, both of which ended in D&C... once because my body didn't expel everything and the second time because I didn't want to go through the traumatic experience of another MC at home.

Though my midwife assures me that my MCs were caused by a severe UTI and a uterine infection I had at that time (I was on antibiotics after my 2nd MC to clear it up) I can't help but to worry that I might MC again because of the D&C operations. I was wondering if anyone had a D&C or more than one and ended up going on to have a healthy pregnancy? I need some support and to hear some success stories :hugs:

I'm following. I had an erpc in January. I'm around 7 weeks now but I'm paranoid About this pregnancy and hearing some success stories may help.

I'm not sure if this is helpful at all because my previous pregnancies were a long time ago. I have had to have 2 D&Cs, the latest of which was in 2007. I had a complete MC in January 2011, and an ectopic in January 2012 in which I lost most of my left tube, rendering it non-functional for conception. In between the MC and ectopic, and then again between the ectopic and this current pregnancy, I had chemical pregnancies that resolved themselves and didn't need any further treatment. I was diagnosed with PCOS in February and was told my chances of conceiving ever again were really low. Then I found out in April that I was in fact pregnant and I am officially 10 weeks today. So far everything is going well. I have had 3 scans so far since I am high risk and every single one of them has shown a strong heartbeat that just keeps getting stronger. My last ultrasound was about 2 weeks ago and the heartbeat was up to 150! Given my history I have been so worried about this pregnancy, but it all seems to be going well. So, yes, you can have a healthy pregnancy after all sorts of losses. I wish I had better answers for you though regarding timing. But I have seen lots of women on here and other boards post about going on to have healthy pregnancies immediately following a loss. Good luck to you!! And wishing you a happy healthy 9 months!

I had a D&C in August 2012 and got pregnant with LO in June 2013. I went full-term and she's healthy! I'm now 9 weeks pregnant with #2 and everything seems to be going well. :hugs:

I have had 5mc's, one 12 week loss, was a MMC at about 9w I think, then 3 between 6-7w and one chemical. I had a uterine infection also, but only found this out after no 5! As they failed to test for it! Pregnancy #6 and requested daily progesterone from specialist gyno and he's now 18mo sleeping in his cot. I know how hard it is, the waiting the worrying, but it will happen for you. Just try to relax (easier said then done) and don't over exert. Wishing you and your sticky beans a HH 9months!! :dust:

I appreciate all your responses and I'm so sorry for everyone's losses :(

Jrob that was my main concern... timing... especially since my last D&C was in February of this year and I'm pregnant again after only a few months. I will not be able to breathe deeply until I'm passed the first trimester worrying I might mc again.

My only other concern besides the timing is the effects of the D&C on my cervix. I'm afraid I will need a cervical stitch or go into labor on my own.

I had a D&C October 31, got pregnant the first cycle after that and found out on Christmas morning. I'm now 29+2 with a sweet rainbow baby boy :)

He had a twin that we lost at 8+5 but my doctor assured me it's absolutely unrelated to the previous miscarriage or the surgery and that I would go on to have a completely normal healthy pregnancy, and this has been absolutely true!

I had a mmc in August 2013. I had an erpc but it didn't get everything out so in October 2013 I had a D&C. Like you I was very worried about potential damage but I found out I was pregnant again in December 2013 and now have a very healthy 10 month old.

I know it's impossible to do but try not to worry. You can't change the outcome either way so try to distract yourself with friends and family as much as you can! Xx

I had my first D&C back in 2011 and my second in 2014. I'm now sat snuggling my beautiful 4 month old. It can be done!

I'm sorry about your losses.

I had three Erpc's in a row due to missed miscarriages and then went on to have our rainbow son who is almost three and I'm almost 22 weeks pregnant with rainbow number two :)

Complications from erpcs do happen but are very very rare.

Congratulations on your pregnancy :)

I had a D&C in July 13, had another m/c in Sept 13 (blighted ovum due to probable though as yet unknown ovarian issues on the left side and completely unrelated to my surgery), and got my bfp for LO on Halloween 2013. She just turned 1 last week.

I'm on a similar time frame as you, lilmisscaviar. D&C end of February and 6 wks pregnant now. I'm early so I don't have info on the health of this pregnancy. But it's always a good sign if you're able to get pregnant. I know several (7) women in real life, not to mention this site, who had d&c's who had healthy pregnancies. And that's just who I know of. The only one who had issues actually due to the d&c is not able to get pregnant in the first place. That's more often the issue from what I hear, rather than carrying to term.

Hi. My daughter is 2 next month. I had 4 losses the last one was a haemorrhage that resulted in my going in to cervical shock and d&c. I bled throughout the first and second trimesters with daughter. Not just spotting but full on soaking through my clothes bleeding. (which happened just after my dating scan so luckily they could scan me straight away again to check she was okay as even they thought it didn't look good). There were other occassions of bleeding too. My daughter was born perfectly healthy nd she is amazing!!!! She came along when we decided to stop trying : )
