Right ladies, difficult one I think but I'm getting a bit stressed.

Evie has stopped accepting my right breast. It used to be her favourite but now she will latch on suck 3-4 times then comes off again, this can go on for half an hour before I give up and just give her my left. She's done it all day but yesterday she was fine with either breast! She gets really stressed when I offer it to her but she will go on my left fine. I've tried holding her in a different position, expressing some beforehand, offering her it first or second, with her wide awake, and with her nearly asleep it just doesn't work. Can anyone suggest anything it could be?

She is 4 days old by the way

Does she get distressed or cough and splutter before she pulls off?

Do you have a stronger letdown in one breast than the other? I've always over produced in my right breast and when mine were babies they often didn't like that side because the milk came out too fast and caused gas and reflux issues.

Not as far as I'm aware, but my milk has only just come in really so I'm still getting used to it all! But possibly, how can I combat this? Xx

If it's coming too fast you can try leaning back as far as possible whilst feeding so gravity slows the milk down

Oh right, she's a fussy latched I can only get her to latch if I'm leaning over her  we will persevere! Thank you xx

My LO wouldn't take my right breast midwife suggested holding him under my right arm so it tricked him to thinking it was my left. With him being a chunk i couldn't hold him like that so laid him on cushions to my right side at the right height so he could latch on. It is called rugby ball hold i think.

I found out it was because my breast was so engorged she couldn't take it, I expressed 60mls before a feed so she could latch and it helped tremendously, thanks for the suggestions!!
