Hi I'm new signing up but have been stalking this site/threads for about a year and a half. I am frustrated and need advice to hopefully get some results. I have been ttc for 2years with dh and nothing has happened. I was overweight and I was only having cycles every 3 months or so. I did my research lost about 60lbs and for the past 17 months have had consistent 31 day normal periods. I have tried fertili-tea maca root fenugreek. I started testing for ovulation twice a day every Day for 3 months straight and all negative. I have spoken with doctors and they blow me off and say I'm young don't worry about it but I feel like there is a problem. I have signs of PCOS and decided to try going to a gyn that supposed to specialize in fertility issues. After a $200 visit she blows me off and says I'm over reacting does no blood test and says it will happen when it's time the whole visit was about 5mins.

I found another gyn who is supposed to specialize in fertility. When she seen me she said she believes I have symptoms of pcos and she treats it all the time and could get me pregnant in 3 months or less and to wait for test results 1st. I was ecstatic for the whole week. I came back for results and she said that all of my results where in normal range and my metabolic rate may be the cause of not ovulating provided no course of action or what we could do to get me ovulating and sold me some diet she invented for $149 and told me summer is here once I'm looking good I will get pregnant easy. I am disappointed because these 2 10minute visits have cost about $1300 and if I was closer to conceiving or got a useful answer or action plan I would not care about the money. I know I can stand to lose more weight but I have an hour glass frame my waist is under 30 inches I don't feel like "oh your just fat" is the root of my anovulatory cycles. I am on a diet now and will try to lose at least 10% which is about 18lbs but I'm not sure if I should go back or go to yet another doctor. I'm not sure if I'm not saying the right things or being pushy enough. I still feel like pcos an issue to consider although I tested normal. I'm over all confused and open to any suggestions

Those all sound like crappy experiences! When I was diagnosed with PCOS, they did an ultrasound to confirm. I didn't have periods regularly at all (like one every 3 or 4 months). The docs were quick to do the ultrasound test on me. This was about 6 years ago, though, so I don't know if docs are less willing to do this test now that insurance things have changed. I'd say request an ultrasound on your ovaries. Your symptoms seems consistent with PCOS, and the ultrasound should confirm the hypothesis.

I realized I made an appointment with another gyn that's supposed to specialize in fertility last month that is scheduled at the end of this month and has pretty good reviews. I will ask about the ultrasound and make a long list of questions since it will probably be another $200 visit

You deserve answers and someone who is going to take you seriously!!!!!!!!! After one year ttc with no success it is common to go to an RE. I suggest you head straight to the fertility clinic. Many clinics offer free consultations and have special low interest loans for fertility treatment. I am assuming you don't have health insurance? If you do have health insurance you should ask an OBGYN for a diagnostic u/s and an HSG because that will be required at a fertility clinic. Your partner should also go to his doc and get a semen analysis because that will also be required at the clinic.

FYI I have PCOS and my labs came back normal and I don't have poly-cystic ovaries. I have no periods/no ovulation and signs of high testosterone (acne, facial hair). My case of PCOS is mild but it is there.
