Can any of you ladies make any suggestions as to what might be going on with my Poppy lately...

Sometimes, when I go to put her on the boobie, she screams loads and won't latch on. Now, I know she is hungry cos she is due a feed and she does this panting thing that tells me she is. She then proceeds to get REALLY worked up, screaming the place down for around half an hour because she is hungry. During this time, when the crying subsides, I will try putting her on again and, each time, the screaming begins again. I have to wait until she has maybe cried herself to sleep before I can get her to take a feed . The only time this has happened before is when I was struggling with a fast flow but that has sorted itself now.

I am just trying to eliminate what it could be  Any ideas?

my baby was already teething at that age, so it could be that, does she drool a lot ?

Are you stressed at all. Sometimes let down can take a while if you are and they get too frustrated in waiting for it to come! I have to really relax and then its ok. Or maybe thrush or teething?

Yes, I'm thinking it may be that. Not sure though. She is dribbling loads and she really chomps on her fists and bites down hard on your knuckle if you let her!

This may have something to do with it, yes. As I have noticed it mainly happens if we are out and about or at someone else's house so I might be feeling a wee bit uptight about feeding her in public. Good suggestion, thanks! x

I wonder if your flow is not fast enough for her now?

Could be, yes. I suppose she might have got used to the fast flow and, now that it has regulated itself, she may be feeling a little frustrated. Thanks.

I was going to suggest a flow change. Has she a blocked nose?

Amelia went through this and it has passed thankfully but it is very upsetting. How frequently does Poppy feed? I upped Amelia to every 2hrs during the day and it seemed to help.

She is a bit bunged up, yes. So this might be a contributing factor I suppose. I feed on demand but she does feed roughly every 2 hours during the day. Hopefully, it will sort itself out but as you said, it is rather upsetting.

If she has a bit of a blocked nose she is probably getting frustrated that she wants to feed but obviously when she latches on she can't breath.

You could try using saline drops, squirt a little (ie 1 drop) up each nostril before feeding and it should help. (it did for me)...oh you can get them at any chemist they are not expensive.

:D Good luck
