Suncream and Eczema?

My little boy usually only gets a bit of eczema on his cheeks and behind his knees in the winter but this week its really flared up, im wondering if it could be the suncream im using?? anyone else found this? also could you reccomend a spf 50 thats ok for eczema? thanks x

My LO got really dry skin with little bumps. I think it was something like eczema or some other rash thing. It was caused by suncream. She now uses spf 50 Coppertone kids.

Omar is also suffering from face aczema. I use Mustela hypoallergic sun cream for babies & he's fine with it.

Yep, it very well could be the cause!

Oliver has various creams prescribed from the docs for his eczema and like you, suncream flares it up. He recently recommended that I put his daily cream on just before I apply suntan lotion. This has really helped keep things under control this time. It's still there, but previously, it's cracked, bled and got really bad whenever I apply suntan lotion.

I used aveeno SPF 55 the one specifically for babies for Jess, and it was fine. She doesn't have it severely only small breakouts now and again. I got it off eBay, I couldn't find it anywhere else

MY son has terriable ezcema and I know if its not tear free allergy, just free free free stuff he breaks out bad.

my son has pretty bad exzema in the winter but he hasnt had any this summer even with using sunscreen I do use baby one thats for sensitive skin

try vanicream sunscreen.

I think hats and UV protection clothing are the best.


Sometimes the heat/sun itself can trigger it. or sweat if the sunblock is not very breathable.

Winter is very dry, not good for dry skin. you'll need to use alot of lotion in the winter and perhaps a humidifier.

I would cover our son with lotion every night use 100% knit cotton long john over it

yea he has prescribed meds for it but we only have to use it in the winter we have a very strict routine with lotion and baths in the winter its nice not to have to worry with it in the summer though!
