Absolutely no point to this thread other than to express my relief!

Just returned from visiting family abroad. I was a bit anxious about the plane and also sharing a room, the kids, me and my mum in the same room. My 2 year old has been acting like a typical 2 year okd and having strops and fussing over food. She literally are just chips and olives!

But they shared a room , she did actually sleep through the baby crying and it wasn't too bad. Mum and I took turns to walk the baby when she was restless, the scenery was beautiful so I didn't mind x we ordered room service a few times and had wine sitting on the balcony whilst they slept.

It was tiring, but fun and my two ye old has gone back into routine. Although toys were ignored Peppa Pig was a life saver on the plane. The little one even slept on the plane.

To all worries parents you can survive a holiday with a toddler and baby!

Well done! Such an achievement, bet you're glad to be home but good you enjoyed it.

Wow, well done! Sounds like you had a great time :)

We're going abroad with our little one on Tuesday. I'm a BIT apprehensive about the journey... nothing in particular really, just that it'll probably be stressful! But not too bad really. I'm lucky that she's not mobile yet! We're flying with my sister and her OH and 13 month old DS who is now VERY mobile and she's dreading it :haha:

Thanks ladies!

AK89 - it's lovely when they are not mobile, and at that lovely age when toys still appeal!

Think for older babies/toddlers tablets and lots of walks up and down the plane seemed to help and snacks.

Hope you have a lovely time xx

Well done! Were you on the plan on your own?
We just came back from Tenerife, my 3 year old was brilliantly behaved and just watched the I pad and ate snacks! My 16 month old didn't understand he HAD to sit down!

My mum came with me. We have family that live abroad and my grandad hadnt met my youngest.

Lol to your 16 month old! Bless them.

We are going on holiday to Dorset in Sept but that's only a 3 hour car journey and doesn't seem as daunting!

We're going to Butlins in September, when DD will be almost three years and LO will be four months. I'm a bit nervous about it, but at least it's only a car journey! It's at least three hours drive, so we'll have to make one or two stops.

Great job!

I've never been abroad, but I did make a 24 hour car drive with my two oldest children last year by myself. We had every intention of driving back, but due to a huge snow storm, we flew back instead.

Congrats!!

Last year I flew on an 8-hour transatlantic flight ALL BY MYSELF with my (then) almost 3 year old and my 3 month old. I had been DREADING the flight for months but it turned out much better than I had expected, and afterwards I felt like I was capable of anything!

Glad things worked out for you!
