Taking the kids swimming in the next few days, Noah is fully potty trained during the day but when he gets in the bath always wees! lol so i should imagine the same would apply if he went in the pool! i know some pools put a dye in the water so they know when someone has wee'd etc! should i till put him in a swim nappy just incase? havent been since hes been dry!

The urine-detecting dye is an urban myth! I hate to say it, but you are almost certainly exposed to someone's wee when you go in a public pool!

That said, I don't see the harm in a swim nappy for your own peace of mind. I'm sure your son will understand that swim clothes are different from regular clothes anyway.

If he always wee's when you put him in the bath i would put him in a swim nappy. I know there must be so much wee in public pools but i'd rather not add to it. Because my son wasn't great at telling me he needed to go i out him in swim nappies for swimming up until this last summer - so he was nearly 4.

Thanks ladies!

Never realised that the dye thing was a myth lol! but good to know!

I think he will still fit into a XL huggies swim nappy so for my piece of mind i will. Hes ok at telling me when he needs a wee when not in water, but will tell me mid flow when hes in the bath lol! x

 have you ever been out the pool and your baby pee'd? They don't hold pee in ;)

Swim nappies don't contain pee, they just let it run straight through the nappy into the pool anyway. Their purpose is to catch poo. So I wouldn't bother putting him in one. :)

I didn't think swim nappies absorbed wee anyway. I thought they were just in case of poos??

You posted while I posted & answered my question. thx

I worked in a pool for 7 years, and trust me...there is ALOT of pee in there and those swim diapers only hold in solids...so pee and diarrhea...out it goes!! That being said, if you think there is ANY chance that your LO might possibly poo in the pool, I would put it on, because that will shut down the entire pool for possibly hours.

They dont hold pee at all! Trust me!

Zoes 92cm and 2.5 stone we use huggies big size and there loads of room.
But if you dont htink he'd poo i would save your money

Do you not have him go before putting him in the tub? That should stop him peeing in the tub and would work at the pool too.

I have recently stopped using the swim nappies with Thomas. I'm 100% certain that he wouldn't poo in the pool and I get him to have a pee before getting in and he always has a big pee when he gets out so I don't think he pees in the pool either.

Yes swim nappies don't stop pee! I've watched my LO pee in them more than once and it just goes right through LOL! :haha:

LOL thanks ladies didnt realise it was only to catch poo! i know he wouldnt poo in the pool so i think i will save my money! x
