Hello everyone! :flower:

Just a quick question. I am switching from Femara 6.5 to Clomid 50 tomorrow for IUI cycle #2. Insurance covers it (thank goodness!), so we decided to switch.

I asked the RE if upping the dose of Femara would do me better. He said no, he was happy with my follicle size. 19, 16, and 15. That was 24hrs before trigger. Are these good numbers? Also, she said she would be switching me to either 50mg of clomid or 100. They went with 50. Now that seems a bit weird. why would you either put me on 50, or DOUBLE the dose to 100?!

I just want to give myself the best chance to get my BFP this month, and not sure why they chose 50, and why 100 was even an option?!

I am starting tomorrow, so wanted AS MUCH insight as possible before.

Thanks yall!

I can't help you with the numbers, I don't know much about follicle size. But, I started out with clomid 50, and it didn't work on me at all, so they upped me to 100 mg this cycle. I think the 50 mg of clomid is the starting point whenever they put you on it.

Glad your insurance covers it! Mine covers absolutely nothing fertility related. And I have to have an ultrasound next week to check follicles, so I'm already starting to sweat thinking about how much that's going to set us back.......

With the clomid- I would recommend taking it at night, before you go to sleep. It makes me super drowsy.

Good luck!

I think you'll be fine. Trust your doc and ask questions if you want answers. My insurance doesn't cover anything fertility related, so yay for you!!

My dr prescribed clomid 50mg, first 3 months nothing so up'd to 100mg for 3 months nothing then up'd again, I fell on clomid 150mg after 7 months.. No side effects, i took it late afternoon, when i new i wasn't doing anything as i'm told there may be side effects..
They up'd the dose with me as with blood work it stated wasn't ovulating... But i have PCOS, long and irregular periods. Found out was ovulating 2-3 days before my period finished.. By falling pregnant in that time frame.. Even tho bloodwork still came back neg that i had ovulated.
They start out with a lower dose, to see if you fall and to get the mg right for you and to make sure there are no side effects.. Thats what my dr explained to me anyway.. they mention the 100mg so you know if it doesn't work the first time they do keep trying..
