I currently work 20 hours a week, Monday to Friday 4pm -8pm. DS attends nursery from 1pm - 5.30pm then DH looks after him until I get home and then I put DS to bed.

I've been applying for part time jobs with 'normal' hours and Monday I had an interview for a receptionist/bookkeeper role.

When I applied for the job it said it was flexitime less than 30 hours which would be ideal. At the interview I was told that there had been a mistake on the advert and the job is actually full time.

I find out today if ive got the job and I really don't know what to do.

At the moment it feels like I'm waiting around all day to go to work. If I accept the job then DS will be at nursery all day but then I will have a few hours with him in the evening before he goes to bed.

It took DS a long time to settle in to nursery and I would just feel so guilty having to send him full time.

I really don't know what to do.

As DS gets older having time with him in the evening will probably become more valuable than having him at school all day whilst you're at home and seeing him for a small amount of time before heading to work.

He will adjust to going to nursery longer, may take time but he will and that in itself is good prep for going to school.

For me full time was never an option but perhaps in your position those working hours would give you more 'normal' hours to spend with him.

:hugs: hope you sort it out x

How old is DS?

If he is going to go to school soon, then I would say go for it. If however you have more than 18 months I wouldnt.

I work 37 hours a week....and I spend every single day wishing I was with doing stuff with my son :(....DD is at school 9-3 so thats not so bad.

DD went to nursery and it DOES help them prepare for school better as they get used to a regimented day.
I went back FT after maternity the first time bt changed to 3 days as couldn't handle it, it was to much.
I am now in the same position but its worse, as I HAVE to work ft :( cant change it...

DS will be 2 next month. I've been fortunate to of been a SAHM until January this year so ive spent plenty of time with him.

I just don't feel ready to work part time just yet but the extra money would come in handy.

I suppose I could always give it a try. It's just going to kill me being away from DS and having no dedicated mummy and son time iykwim x
